your Word that we will learn more about today. Give us the spirit
of wisdom and revelation now during this teaching. Help us to learn
to pray and worship you. Thank you for our Christian brothers and
sisters who we can have fellowship with. Give us opportunities to
share our faith as we stand witness for Jesus and what He has done
in our lives. As we do all these things we will grow Spiritually
in Jesus name we pray. Amen
5. TEACHING:
a) “Back Track”
• Who can come up and demonstrate how they used the Salvation
Track? (Get a child to demonstrate)
Last week we learnt the basics of the “Five
Means of Growth.”
Illustrate Truth: A tree
Roots represents going deep into reading the Bible.
Trunk reaches up to Heaven represents Prayer.
Branches spreading into the sky lifting our hands in Worship
Leaves represent Fellowship.
Swaying branches touching other branches represent being a Witness.
b) Sword Play
Ready…Swords up… 2 Timothy 3: 16 … CHARGE!
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking,
correcting and training in righteousness. (2 Timothy
3: 16)
(Use Bible Verse Visual Aid photocopied and
coloured prior to the session)
(Give out the Sword Play Tracks one for each child)
c) Teaching the Lesson - Five Means to Spiritual
Growth:
Read the Bible: (God’s
Word)
FIVE STEPS TO KNOWING GOD'S WORD
First, give children a piece of paper, large enough for them to
be able to trace around their hand. Have the children trace around
their hand. After they are finished with the hand, have a volunteer
read each of the verses shown below. Explaining why we are putting
each instruction on each finger.
Have the children write the corresponding words:
Hear, Read, Study, Memorize and Meditate on the
fingers.
(Show Hand Visual Aid)
On the other side of the hand, write the verse references.
When finished, suggest the children keep this in their Bibles to
use as a bookmark and a reminder to do all five steps to understand
the Bible fully and to allow the Word of God to richly fill their
lives.
HEAR (The little finger
is the only finger you can fit in your ear! Demonstrate)
Romans 10:17 Consequently, faith comes
from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the Word
of Christ.
READ (The thumb is used to
turn a page when you are reading, demonstrate)
Revelation 1:3a Blessed is the one who reads
the words of this prophecy.
STUDY (Teachers points her
finger and tells you ‘Study’ demonstrate)
Acts 17:11 Now the Bereans were of more noble
character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message
with great eagerness and examined (studied) the Scriptures every
day to see if what Paul said was true.
MEMORIZE (The tallest finger
reminds us of our pledge to God that we will hide His Word in our
heart)
Psalm 119:11 I have hidden (memorized) your
word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
MEDITATE (The ring fingers
reminds us that if we love God we want to meditate on His ways)
Psalm 119:15 I meditate on your precepts and consider
your ways.

When you hear God’ Word, read the Bible, study
and get to know God, memorize and meditate on the Word, the Bible,
you discover who God is and how He wants you to live.
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive
yourselves. Do what it says. James 1:22 (NIV)
It isn't enough to read and study the Bible. We
must put its teachings to work in our daily life.
The Bible is like a cookbook. The Bible has God's
recipe for becoming a Christian and living a life that is pleasing
to Him. A lot of people read the Bible every day. Many of them even
go to Sunday School and study the Bible. But it isn't enough just
to read the recipe. Reading the Bible won't make you a Christian
any more than reading a cookbook will make you a cook. We must follow
the recipe in our daily life.
‘Mystery Clue’ - Salvation
Gift Box.
• How to colour your Salvation Gift
Box:
HEAVEN is always gold or orange like the streets of gold. The gift
reminds that Heaven is a FREE gift, remember the Three Gift Skit
in Session 1.
SIN/MAN is always a dark colour like brown with
black writing. Remember the Long Jump to Jesus game in Session 1,
everyone failed to reach the mark. The Bible tells us:
“For all have sinned, and fall short of
the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
GOD is always white because He is pure and Holy, color the world
blue and green and His hands brown. Remember God has two sides to
His character. On the one hand God loves us and does not want to
punish us, but on the other hand God is just and must punish sin.
JESUS is always red because of His blood He shed
for us. Remember His blood on the boy dead in the Bondage of Sin
skit in Session 1.
FAITH is blue remember the drowning man in Session
1 who received the ‘Life Savor’
Bible says “Believe in the Lord Jesus,
and you will be saved …” (Acts 16:31)
Jesus is standing at the door and knocking open up and let Him in.
Once we have made a commitment to give our lives
to Jesus we will start to grow Spiritually. GROWTH is always green.
How to assemble the Salvation Gift Box:
Cut out the outer edges of the Salvation Gift Box including the
Bible Verse Romans 6: 23b.
Fold all the solid lines inward.
Glue tag A (HEAVEN) to the inside edge of side B (GOD)
Fold in the two flaps and glue SIN to them.
Fold in the top two flaps but DO NOT glue GROWTH leave that as the
lid that can open.
Place Romans 6:23b inside the box and close the top lid.
How to use the Salvation Gift Box:
‘Can I show you what I have inside my Salvation Gift Box?
HEAVEN is a FREE gift – What stops us from
getting this gift?
(Turn the box) SIN/MAN – There has
to be a different way –
(Turn the box) GOD’s way –
teach about how God has two sides to His character. On the one hand
God loves us and does not want to punish us, but on the other hand
God is just and must punish sin. Do you see the Problem?
(Turn the box) God solved the problem by
sending His Son JESUS. “For God so loved the world that He
gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not
perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
How do we receive this gift?
(Turn the box) by FAITH. Jesus is standing
at the door and knocking. Would you like to let Him in to commit
your life to the Lord and ask Jesus to be your Saviour?
(Turn the box) Then you will start to GROW.
Open the box and remove the Bible Verse “The
gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” Romans
6: 23
Optional: Use the footprints to
teach Romans 6:23
Optional: Use the Gospel Plan Hand to demonstrate
6. APPLICATION/ENCOUNTERING GOD:
Refer to our Encountering God Handbook for ideas Experience the
Holy Spirit Learning Centers creating an atmosphere for this experience.
CLOSING PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father
we thank you for your Word, that all Scripture is God-breathed and
is useful for teaching us, for sometimes rebuking us correcting
and training us in righteousness. We want to hear the Word because
faith comes from hearing the message. Help us to set aside time
to read your Word and study and examine the Scriptures every day.
We want to hide your word in our hearts so that I might not sin
against you as we consider your ways and walk in them. In Jesus
name we pray. Amen
