Heal a Hurting Heart- Introduction
(To be translated)
|
Thank you for your interest in learning more about the Chichewa Heal a Hurting Heart (HHH) Malawi children's curriculum.
The structure of this Heal a Hurting Heart children's Curriculum follows the Bible Society's 'Healing Hearts Club', a Bible-based Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) healing programme for children who have experienced war, abuse, or a similar human or natural disaster. |
Their original programme was written for the children of DR Congo
and we are grateful to be able to follow the same structure and
guidelines establishing a Caribbean Hurricane version and expanding
into an African Cyclone and Flood versions. More recently this has
been extended to cover the Corona Crisis in Europe and around the
world.
From a child's point of view, we have entered into a very strange
time. Schools are closed and its not yet holidays! There is no football
training, sports, no swimming, no drama, music or dance classes.
Not even church as we know it!
They are not allowed to visit their friends or even their grandparents. No shopping, trips to the beach, walks in the park. As we all know this is all because of the Coronavirus. They cry themselves to sleep but this season will end. |
|
|
Because of the magnitude of this Corona Crisis we have adapted our 'Natural Disaster' Heal a Hurting Heart programme to assist parents, family members, school staff, youth Pastors, Sunday school teachers and other trusted adults who can play an important role in helping children make sense of what they hear in a way that is honest, accurate, and minimizes anxiety or fear. |
Using God's Biblical principles and following the life of Joseph and all that he went thought to assist the child to cope with the stress associated with the situation. Using the arts and drama to help the children living through what has become to many a nightmare. |
|
This Malawi version, in Chichewa, has now been adapted and is being
translated into English, Swahili, Dutch, Spanish, French, Haitian
Creole, Italian and Portuguese.
|
Visual Aids and Take Home Memory Bible Verses can be downloaded in Chichewa.
Adult Educational Handouts are available, they can be downloaded as Take Home material to assist the parents. |
Fun animated English informational videos for the children have been downloaded because there seem to be few of these in Chichewa. |
|
|
Chichewa colouring pages, games, quizzes and fun activities have been included to make this a fun curriculum.
Laughter is a good medicine! And through laughing children will heal from the stress and trauma they have eperienced |
The lessons are complimented by a child's story book 'And Puppy' originally created in Dominica, by the women and children, following Hurricane Maria and now adapted for this 'Corona Crisis'. |
|
This was a partnership between Lifeline
Ministries Dominica and United
Caribbean Trust.
Recently three weeks of children's Deliverance has been incorporated
into the curriculum for the older children and youth. It follows
Lesson #8 which is the Children's Evangelism Session.
Each of the three Deliverance Sessions are accompanied by a Deliverance
Training PowerPoint for the Teachers and Youth Pastors, including
Handouts and Warfare Prayers for the youth or older children. Deliverance
teaching has been adapted from Warfare
Plus Ministries
These three weeks can be omitted if the church or organization
does not want to embark on Deliverance, or the children are very
young and may not be able to grasp this teaching. If this is the
case Lesson #8, the Children's Evangelism Lesson, leads onto Lesson
#9 'New life in Christ', which can then be followed by Lesson #12
the 'Forgiveness' teaching.

written initially for the children of the Caribbean, following their
recent history of Category 5 Hurricanes but now adapted for an African
version.
The Heal a Hurting Heart Disaster Management Programme is followed
by a Reforestation/ Nutritional 12 week Moringa Curriculum - Sowing
the Jesus Seed which is followed by a 12 week
Super
Fruit Curriculum. In these changing times food
sustainability is essential and these curriculum will teach the
children gardening principles as well as Spiritual values.
