10th week of our Journey - “Back Track”

MATERIALS:
Games: Peanut
Teaching: Photocopy Music Song Sheets and lyrics. Photocopy Sword Play Tracks. Torch. Print Journey of Life Visual aid. Print Wiggly fingers from Session 4 and The Bridge Track. Photocopy The Jesus Cross front and back, glue. The ‘On the right track’ banner and Passport from Session 3. Visual aids from Session 6 Big paper iphone , paper money or real $2.00bill. Black cloth, Jesus outfit, red cloth. FOOD STORE sign, shawl and stick, scarves, caps, white gloves, food. Identity dog-tag. LIFE SAVIOR’ ring, DROWNING MAN sign, sailors cap, sheet for sail, stick mast, paper hammer and saw, blue cloth for waves, captains cap and scarf. Food colouring, paint or dye - green, yellow and blue, 3 clear glasses.

AS KIDS ARRIVE PRIOR TO THE LESSON:
Welcome Teacher/Trainers, Trainers and students.
Give the children the peanuts and the ‘Gospel Peanut in a Nutshell’ cut into strips, give each child a strip along and a roasted peanut, carefully open the shell and remove the nut, roll the strip up so it can fit into the nutshell. Practice unrolling it and saying the ‘Gospel Peanut in a Nutshell’ as they share their faith

1. GUESSING GAMES: (10 minutes) Hide and Peanut:
Conceal a peanut in one hand and get the children guess which hand you have hidden the peanut. Call out all that think the left hand or those that think its in the right hand, eliminate the incorrect side. Start again until there is only one child left who gets the peanut.

2. TEAM GAMES: (10 minutes) Fishy Fishy:
Divide children into two teams and have them line up opposite sides of the room. Have each team tightly hold hands.
Each team calls out Fishy fishy Ready … Get Set send ________ (children choose a name of a child from the opposite team) to break the net!
The child that is named runs to the other team and tries to break through their joined hands. If the child breaks through then they take an opponent back to their side. If they can’t break through they must join the other team.

3. ACTIVE PRAISE CHORUS: (10 minutes)
Heaven is a free gift (I ain't gonna grieve my Lord no more.) (Use music video, lyrics and visual aids to review)

4. INTIMATE WORSHIP: (5 minutes)
Turn your eyes upon Jesus (See music song sheet in Visual Aid Manual)

Prayer: Heavenly Father, as we pause and look back over the last few weeks we ask Holy Spirit you will bring all that we have been taught back to our remembrance. Give us the courage to share our faith with all that you place in our path because once our lives were in a mess now we have a message. Thank you Jesus. Amen

5. TEACHING:
a) “Back Track”
This entire session is one big “Back Track”
The last couple of lessons have been about sharing our Testimony.

b) Sword Play (Wave the Power Sword (Give out the Sword Play Tracks one for each child)
Ready…Swords up… 1 Peter 2:2… CHARGE!
They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; (Revelation 12:11a)

c) Teaching the Lesson (15 minutes)
Remember when we started this series we went to the FunTastic Fun Fair where you will be introduced to the Scriptures that we have being going over and over each week.

Has anyone got their Treasure Map have you been able to share your Faith in Jesus.

You learnt God’s Word was powerful, true and a light to their path. (Demonstrate with a torch)

Who can remember The Journey of Life verse: Proverbs 3:5 and 6 (Use Visual aid)

Over the weeks we have learnt a lot about fishing.

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” (Mark 1:17)

THE GOSPEL PLAN: (Use Wiggly fingers from Session 4)

Whenever you start sharing the Gospel Plan you should begin with Heaven

HEAVEN is a free gift It is not something you work for or deserve

The Bible says “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23 KJV)

Optional: The Bridge (See Visual Aid Manual for demo and Bridge Track)

The Bible also says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).

So what stops us from getting this gift? SIN

We all sin, and we cannot save ourselves.

The Bible says … “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

Jesus said ... “Be perfect, therefore, as your Heavenly Father is perfect” (Matthew 5:48).

THERE MUST BE A DIFFERENT WAY – GOD’S WAY

God is LOVING
But God is also JUST (fair) and must punish sin.

The Bible says, “God is love” (1 John 4:8b);

But the Bible also says, “(He) will by no means clear the guilty” (Exodus 34:7b)

Do you see the problem?
God solved this problem by sending His son Jesus

Our ring finger reminds us that God so loved us He sent His Son - Jesus

The Bible says, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16 KJV).

The little fingers reminds us we only need a small amount of Faith as small as a small seed to grow into a mighty big tree. Saving Faith is not just knowing about God in your head.... Saving Faith is not temporary , Saving Faith is trusting in Jesus ALONE for our eternal life.

Jesus said “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in.” (Rev 3:20)

The Bible says,

“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved …” (Acts 16:31)

HOW DO WE GET THIS GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE? - BY FAITH!

NOW IT’S TIME TO GROW AND GO!

Bring out the ‘On the right track’ banner and get the children recite the order to share the Gospel.

Who has their Passport to Heaven? (Get a volunteer come out and demonstrate the Passport)

Remember we learnt about Diamonds? Think for a moment about diamonds. They are one of the most precious items in creation. They are rare, beautiful and highly prized. They are nothing compared to how God values YOU.

Diamond 1 HEAVEN: Birthday Gift - (Big paper iphone or real iphone and big paper money or real $2.00bill. Print Romans 6:23- Visual Aid ‘The Bridge demo in Visual Aid Manual or downloaded from 2Tim22.com)

Diamond 2 MAN: Bondage of Sin – (Black cloth, Jesus outfit, red cloth)

Diamond 3 GOD: The Vigilante/The Boss (FOOD STORE sign, shawl and stick, scarves, white gloves, tinned food)

Diamond 4 JESUS: My Life Story– (A large book not the Bible. Photocopy Sword Play track one for each child).

Alternative: The Dying Man – (Caps for solders, Identity dog-tag)

Diamond 5 FAITH: Life Savior– (‘LIFE SAVIOR’ ring, DROWNING MAN sign, sailors cap, sheet for sail, stick mast, paper hammer and saw, blue cloth for waves, white cloth for wind, captains cap and scarf)

Diamond 6 GROWTH – Grow and Go –(Food colouring, paint or dye - green, yellow and blue, 3 clear glasses )

Optional: Sing the ABC of Salvation (Use music video and lyrics found in Visual Aid Manual)

• Romans 6:23 bridge? (Get a child to come up and demonstrate how it works, print one off prior to the session)
• Lak-A-Word Booklet (Get a younger child to come up and demonstrate how it works)
• One door dollar bill (Get an older child to come up and demonstrate how it works)
• Heart testimony (For younger children)
• Blank piece of paper 8”X11 (For older children)
• Multi colored bead key ring (Get a boy come up and demonstrate how it works)

‘Mystery Clue’ - Salvation Gift Box.

• How to colour your Salvation Gift Box:
HEAVEN is always gold or orange like the streets of gold. The gift reminds that Heaven is a FREE gift, remember the Three Gift Skit in Session 1.

SIN/MAN is always a dark colour like brown with black writing. Remember the Long Jump to Jesus game in Session 1, everyone failed to reach the mark. The Bible tells us:

“For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

GOD is always white because He is pure and Holy, color the world blue and green and His hands brown. Remember God has two sides to His character. On the one hand God loves us and does not want to punish us, but on the other hand God is just and must punish sin.

JESUS is always red because of His blood He shed for us. Remember His blood on the boy dead in the Bondage of Sin skit in Session 1.

FAITH is blue remember the drowning man in Session 1 who received the ‘Life Savor’

Bible says “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved …” (Acts 16:31) Jesus is standing at the door and knocking open up and let Him in.

Once we have made a commitment to give our lives to Jesus we will start to grow Spiritually. GROWTH is always green.

How to assemble the Salvation Gift Box:
Cut out the outer edges of the Salvation Gift Box including the Bible Verse Romans 6: 23b.
Fold all the solid lines inward.
Glue tag A (HEAVEN) to the inside edge of side B (GOD)
Fold in the two flaps and glue SIN to them.
Fold in the top two flaps but DO NOT glue GROWTH leave that as the lid that can open.
Place Romans 6:23b inside the box and close the top lid.

How do we receive this gift?

(Turn the box) by FAITH. Jesus is standing at the door and knocking. Would you like to let Him in to commit your life to the Lord and ask Jesus to be your Saviour?

(Turn the box) Then you will start to GROW.

Open the box and remove the Bible Verse “The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” Romans 6: 23

6. APPLICATION/ENCOUNTERING GOD: Refer to our Encountering God Handbook for ideas for this important section of the session. Experience the Holy Spirit Learning Centers creating an atmosphere.

CLOSING PRAYER: Heavenly Father we send these little fishermen out into the world covered in the blood of Jesus, filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit to be fishers of men, in Jesus name. Amen.
