AS KIDS ARRIVE PRIOR TO THE LESSON:
Welcome Teacher/Trainers, Trainers and students. As the children arrive give them their Take Home ‘Power Sword’ (photocopied prior to the lesson) to cut out and glue together. Explain the Power Sword will be used weekly as they practice their Sword Drill. Ensure they each have their Treasure Chest (shoebox) from last week to store all their treasures they will collect week after week.

1. HIDE AND SEEK GAMES: (10 minutes)
Having hidden the Proverbs Journey of Life Track around the room get the children to hunt to find them, one per child.
When they have found them get the children to read the Bible verse and place it in their Treasure Chest.

2. TEAM GAMES: (10 minutes)
Blind football: Divide the group into two, select a ‘goal scorer’ and blindfold one from each team. Position water bottles to form goal post at the far end of the room. The team shouts directions the ‘goal scorer’ has to trust their instructions to kick the balloon that is acting as the football. The first to score is the winning team. Ask the ‘goal scorer’ how did it feel to have to trust his friends entirely for his every move?

3. ACTIVE PRAISE CHORUS: (10 minutes)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart. (Use Music video and lyrics from Visual Aid Manual)

4. INTIMATE WORSHIP: (5 minutes)
A gift to You (Use Music video and lyrics from Visual Aid Manual)
He has got it under control (Use Music video and lyrics from Visual Aid Manual)

Prayer: Heavenly Father help us to trust in You and You alone. Help us not to lean on our own understanding. We will always acknowledge You knowing that You will make our path straight. Your Word, Father God is a lamp to our feet and a light for our path. Thank you for your grace by which we have been saved through faith, thank you for this free gift we know it is not by works. Thank you Father for your unconditional love yet we know you will not leave the guilty unpunished. We know that you God loved the world so much that You gave your only Son, Jesus, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. We know Jesus you are knocking on the door of our heart, you have promised that if anyone hears and opens the door You will come in. Amen.

5. TEACHING:
a) “Back Track”

The Journey of Life verse:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
Lean NOT on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge HIM
and HE will make your path straight.
Proverbs 3:5 and 6

Optional:

  • Military Cadence
  • Sing - He has got it under control

b) Sword Play

Lets learn to “Sword Play” (Waving the Power Sword)

On our journey we will need a sword for protection. (Get the children to draw their ‘Power Swords’) We will need God’s Word. We are going to hide God’s Word in our heart. Everyone take out your Bible I will say Ready … Swords Up. You will lift your Bible above your head. I will give you the Bible verse. You will repeat after me. I will give the command – CHARGE. Each of you will look up the verse as fast as you can. Whoever finds it first will stand up and read the verse.

(If the same child keeps winning, get them to come up and give the command next time.)

Ready…Swords up… Mark 1:17…(child repeats address)… CHARGE!

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”

(Mark 1:17)

(Give out the Sword Play Tracks one for each child, junior and senior)

Optional: Sing: Come follow me

c) Teaching the Lesson
Firstly we are going to learn the value of the ‘Mystery Clue’ tools designed to help you share your faith with your family and friends.

Boys and girls for the next few weeks we will be on a journey. While we are on our journey we will need to take some things with us that will help up along the way, just like the compass. Each week you will be find an item that will give you a clue to the purpose of this week’s journey or a ‘bait’ to help us go ‘fishing’ for our friends!

This week’s Visual Aid: - A torch

(Remove one battery from the flashlight prior to sharing with class. Give it to a child to hide or hold.)

“God’s Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” (Psalms 119 v105)

If I was walking down a path and it was really dark, I couldn’t see where I was going unless I had a light to show me the path. God’s Word is that light that shows me where to go along the Journey.

(Hold up a torch or flash light try to turn it on, but it does not work, ask the children what is missing. Ask if anyone has any batteries receive the battery from the child and insert it in the flash light turn the flash light on)

Just like the batteries inside this flashlight provide power to light up my path (hold up shining flashlight), so it is with the Scriptures they provide the POWER to the Gospel Plan.

Last week in the FunTastic Fun Fair we had lots of fun and we heard some very important Bible Verses.

These games were designed to help you hear the Gospel in a fun way hiding God’s Word in your hearts. Today we are going to go through all the verses again and make our Treasure Map but first the Gospel Plan.

GOSPEL PLAN:
HEAVEN is a free Gift....it is not something you work for or deserve.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life.” (Romans 6:23)

Optional: The Romans 6: 23 footprints

“For it is by grace that you have been saved through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

(Can anyone remember the THREE GIFT SKIT? – get a volunteer come out and explain –Heaven is a free gift)

So what keeps us from getting this gift? SIN

We all sin, and cannot save ourselves.
“What is sin? ...Sin is anything we think, say, do or don't do that does not please God”

• STICKY CHAIR SKIT: (See instructions in Visual Aid Manual)

The Bible tells us “For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

Jesus said “Be perfect, therefore, as your Heavenly Father is perfect.”

(Matthew 5:48)

There must be a different way - God's way.

God is loving but God is also just. The Bible says “God is love …” (1 John 4:8b)

But the Bible also says “Yet He does not leave the guilty unpunished.” (Exodus 34:7b)

Do you see the problem?
God solved the problem by sending His Son Jesus.

Jesus is God! He came from Heaven to earth. He lived a perfect life. He died on the cross and rose from the dead, to pay the penalty for our sins and to purchase a place - in Heaven for us. Jesus is in Heaven now offering us the FREE GIFT of eternal life.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

(The children jump rope while reciting the verse to the rhythm of the jump or the girls can do hand clapping games.)

How do we receive this FREE gift of eternal life? BY FAITH!

Saving Faith is not just knowing about God in your head.... Saving Faith is not just temporary, (blow bubbles)

Saving Faith is trusting in Jesus ALONE for our eternal life.

The Bible says “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved …” (Acts 16:31)

Does this make sense to you?

“Jesus says ‘I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in…(Rev 3:20)

Jesus is a gentleman and He will not kick in the door to your heart or come in uninvited you MUST open the door and invite Him in.

“… he who believes has everlasting life." (John 6:47)

Now it’s time to KNOW, GROW AND GO!

We have been told Jesus is waiting patiently He is knocking at the door of the hearts of all those who will invited Him in… He wants to take us up the ladder with the angels to our Final Destination – HEAVEN

Last week you saw the ‘Two Chair Skit and many of you gave your lives to Jesus or recommitted your life.

Now we are going to introduce you to your first ‘Mystery Clue’ (Witnessing Tool)
‘The Treasure Map’ – Hand out the Treasure Map and get the adults or older children to help the very little ones stick the TREASURE section onto the MAP. We are to store our ‘Treasure Map’ in our Treasure Chest (shoebox) and bring it back each week we will add things to it and use it to share the Gospel, the Good News about Jesus.

At the end we are going to do something very special with it! Remember to store everything in your Treasure Chest, decorate it to make it look beautiful.

HEAVEN is a free Gift....it is not something you work for or deserve.
(Give out Romans 6: 23 Scripture Ticket Verse and help children stick onto #1 top left hand corner under HEAVEN)

(Give out Ephesians 2:8-9 Scripture Ticket Verse and help children stick onto #2 HEAVEN bottom left hand corner)

So what keeps us from getting this gift? SIN

(Give out Romans 3: 23 Scripture Ticket Verse - follow the long jumper and help children stick onto #3 SIN)

(Give out Matthew 5:48 Scripture Ticket Verse follow the arrow upwards and help children stick onto #4 SIN )

There must be a different way - God's way

(Give out 1 John 4:8 Scripture Ticket Verse follow the ‘Different Way’ arrow upwards help children stick onto #5 GOD)

Do you see the problem? God solved the problem by sending His Son Jesus.

(Give out John 3:16 Scripture Ticket Verse follow the downward ‘Solution’ arrow and help children stick onto #6 JESUS)

How do we receive this FREE gift of eternal life? BY FAITH!

(Give out Acts 16:31 Scripture Ticket Verse follow the ‘God directs my steps’ arrow upwards and stick onto #7 FAITH)

Does this make sense to you?

(Give out Rev 3:20 Scripture Ticket Verse come down the ladder and help children stick onto #8 FAITH)

Optional: Knock Knock fliers for children.

Now it’s time to KNOW, GROW AND GO!

( Give out John 6:47 Scripture Ticket Verse travel over the bridge and help children stick onto #9 GROWTH)

Show your ‘Treasure Map’ to your friends and read the Bible verses sharing your faith, store it in your Treasure Chest don’t forget to bring it back next week. Also try and remember to bring an empty match box.

PRAYER: Take the opportunity to pray with the children that want to repent and ask Jesus to come into their lives.
