for those who hunger.
5. TEACHING:
a. “Back Track” (5 minutes)
Last week we learnt about harvest.
Can you remember what we have to do to nurture your Moringa plant?
• Plant it.
• Water it.
• Weed it.
• Guard it against bugs, goats etc
• We had to give it a lot of attention to make it produce
so we can go out & gather in the harvest!
How do you nurture the Jesus seed?
• By cultivating your relationship with Jesus Christ.
• By praying
• By reading and memorizing His Word the Bible
• By worshipping Him
• By fellowshipping with other believers
b. Sword Play
(Use Bible Verse Card and props as visual aids found in Visual
Aid Manual)
Ready…Swords up… Leviticus 26:4…CHARGE!
I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield
its crops and the trees their fruit. (Leviticus 26:4)
c. Teach the Lesson
Many weeks ago we started this series sharing with you the Good
News, and teaching you how to share your Faith. Do you remember
all your ‘Mystery Clue’ (Witnessing Tools)
and how you used them?
Optional: Balloon sculpture Gospel Plan
Optional: View God's Story of Redemption in Christ
Teaching Video.
Optional: View ABC of Salvation Teaching Video
Did you go on any “Fishing Trips”? (Hold up the two
fish) come up and share.
Then we learnt about planting the Jesus seed. God wants us to grow
Spiritually. In order to grow, plants need sunlight and water.
Remember God created the Light. (Use the Creation review flash
cards) The light is like the presence of God, Jesus is our light.
We are to let our light shine like the Good Samaritan.
Being watered is like being filled with the Holy Spirit living
& growing in you
Optional: Sing This little light of mine I’m
gonna let it shine.
(Use music video and lyrics from Visual Aid Manual)
How is your Moringa growing, we learnt Moringa leaves have the
potential to save the lives of millions of people in Africa. This
series began by educating the children on Moringa, recognized as
the ‘Miracle Tree’ called ‘Mothers Friend”
and “Mother’s Milk.”
Remember the Parable of the Sower? (Use the Sowers Parable
colouring sheet) ‘Sower’ is another name for farmer.
Who created the earth? (God the Father is the Gardener) Remember
He plants the Jesus seed in us by the Holy Spirit. So although Jesus
was speaking about seeds in the parable, the story really applies
to people. Where did the first seed land? (On the path)
Jesus knew the importance of the condition of our hearts. “When
anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand
it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their
heart. This is the seed sown along the path.”
Optional: View the Parable of the Sower teaching
video or story tale.
In the Parable of the Sower the seeds that fell on rocky places
are like people that have hard hearts and little faith in God. When
life gets a little rocky, their Christian walk quickly withers and
dies.
Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants.
Mathew 13: 7
There are many things in this world that compete for our time.
We need to remove, like thorns, the things in our lives that hinders
our relationship with God. We need to keep God first in our lives.
In the final lesson of the Sower’s series we learnt about
the seed that fell on good soil. It grew very well, in fact it grew
so well that it produced more seed. These seeds also grew to be
strong plants.
Then we learnt that gardens need to be weeded. Remember you weeded
the Moringa, We need to weed the sin out of our lives regularly.
Discussion Questions:
1. What are weeds like? (Sin)
2. What is sin? (Sin is anything we think, say, do or don’t
do that displeases God.)
3. What tool will remove sin? (Jesus.)
Plants also need to be protected just like we need to ‘guard
your heart’. Proverbs 4:23 and ‘Set
a guard over my mouth’ Psalm 141:3a
In order to grow, plants sometimes need to be pruned. In order
for Christians to grow sometimes God has to prune our lives. God
shapes us and creates us to be what He wants us to be. Sometimes
that is a bit uncomfortable, but He does it for our good in the
end. Can you remember this memory verse (Romans 8:28)
As your Moringa grows it will start to produce fruit or pods. Christians
need to "grow" the fruit of the spirit in their lives.
Galatians 5: 22 - 23
Fruit of the Spirit:
Optional: Fruit of the Spirit Marching In (Get
children up and marching)
Love: We are to love the Lord our God with all
our hearts, soul and mind.
Joy: There is a difference between joy and happiness.
Happiness is based upon “happenings,” meaning if good
things happen, you’re happy, but if bad things happen we are
unhappy. Not so with joy
Peace is being content with what God has given
us. Be happy with what you have.
Longsuffering is patients, not whining or complaining.
Kindness is giving and helpful. Saying something
nice to someone that you see is feeling down?
Goodness means caring and understanding. Do a
little something extra to help out at home.
Faithfulness means to be true to God. You all
know right from wrong. You all know what God expects. You all know
what He says not to do.
Gentleness is being tender and calm. Again, being
kind to your family, friends and your pets.
Self-control is managing your wants and emotions.
Be careful how you act, what you say.
Who remembers the Super Fruits? Do you have your Super Fruit handouts
in your shoebox?
Optional: Hand out the ‘Super Fruit Quiz’
6. APPLICATION / ENCOUNTERING GOD: Refer to our
Encountering God Handbook for ideas for this important section of
the session. Experience the Holy Spirit Learning Centers creating
a Spiritual atmosphere.
Let us take time to thank God for all that He has taught us over
the months about His character and the character He wants to build
in our lives.
Optional: Sing ‘Ready to Go”
TAKE HOME PAGE:
Give one copy of the ‘Take Home Truth’ to each child
at the end of the class.
Optional: ‘Take Home Quiz Books’ are available for the
children found in your Visual Aid Manual reviewing:
• Let your light shine
• Nurturing the Jesus seed
• Fruit of the Spirit
