UCT purchased an orphanage in Uganda the Hope Child Care Centre (HCCC)

Recently UCT placed a deposit on an orphanage in Uganda the Hope Child Care Centre (HCCC) and we are now focusing on food security not only for our orphanage but for many of the 10,000 children that live on the streets of Kampala, Uganda. With this in mind the Africa Community Moringa Project was birthed.

Africa Community Moringa Project:

A seed stock of Moringa seeds is being established to distribute to the Pastors and PowerClub leaders throughout Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia and Malawi.

The children will be taught Farming Principles using the Moringa seed as a visual aid.

Africa Community Moringa Project:

A children’s colouring Moringa book has been produced, in various languages and will teach them the nutritional and medicinal values of Moringa and can also be used as educational posters for their schools and churches.

A 21 week Moringa children's curriculum 'Sowing Seeds of Success' in English and 'Kupanda Mbegu ya Yesu' in Swahili, has been developed to educate the children on the importance of Moringa as well as teach them about planting the Jesus seed and the Sowers Parable, using the Moringa as a visual aid over 8 weeks until the plant is established and ready for planting.

The little saplings once established will be taken home by children within the community and planted outside their homes. They will also be able to take an adult Moringa Eduational Brochure for their parents, that will also have an evangelism outreach bringing Hope to these families.

Jenny Tryhane, founder of UCT and Director of the Africa Bureau of Children's Discipleship introduced the African Community Moringa Project in preparation for establishing Food For Life Africa

The little saplings once established will be taken home and planted outside their homes.

Africa Community Moringa Project:

Adult training sessions will be hosted to educate the parents about the nutritional and health benefits of Moringa. An Educational Moringa booklet has been produce and will be printed in Africa in either English, Swahili, French or Chichewi as a means of health and nutritional adult education. These sessions are excellent means to introduce the Stonecroft Bible Studies into the adult communities.

The children will be educated at school on Moringa's suitability as animal fodder and other trees eventually such as Mulberry the Biblical Sycamore will be introduced with the Zacchaeus story!

Africa Community Moringa Project:

They will be taught all the various stages of Processing Moringa and numerous Moringa recipes.

Africa Rabbit Feeding Program:

Moringa leaf meal (MOLM) can be used to improve daily weight gain in rabbits

We are believing God that we will be able to establish a rabbit feeding program for each of our African PowerPlay Child Care Centres, including Hope PowerClub.

Moringa leaf meal (MOLM) can be used to improve daily weight gain in rabbits

Moringa is non-toxic to rabbits at least at the 20% diet inclusion level.

It has the potential to reduce cholesterol level in blood and the meat of rabbits.

Moringa leaf meal (MOLM) can be used to improve daily weight gain in rabbits

Moringa leaf meal (MOLM) could be used to replace soyabean meal (SBM) partially or completely in rabbit diets as a non-conventional protein source.

Moringa

A major constraint to livestock production in developing countries is the scarcity and fluctuating quantity and quality of the year-round feed supply. To be able to substitute with leafy plants like Moringa is a great benefit.

Africa land for the Moringa Projects

TANZANIA:

10 acres have been identified in Tanzania on the outskirts of Mbeya, where UCT has our Tanzania Headquarters managed by Pastor David Akondowe

The land is rich and productive growing coffee, maize and fodder grass for cattle. There are two streams running along the boarder and it is just a few minutes walk from a large river.

Seen here Jenny Tryhane, Founder of UCT (back left) with Pastor Abraham, the Uganda UCT Representative holding the hoe that was used to plant a memorial tree on the boundary of the land. In the front is Mama Pinos who officially handed the land over on behalf of her husband Bishop Pinos and right Pastor Paul who will be the resident Pastor of this project.

UGANDA

UCT already owns land in Bugiri in Eastern Uganda close to the Kenyan border where we are trusting God to launch our first Moringa Pilot Project.
