Today crime, juvenile delinquency, broken families,
and overcrowded prisons overshadow many nation's productivity, ingenuity,
and prosperity. The reason for this decline is the lack of individual
character.
However, government and community leaders can use
their influence to foster a community-wide culture where good character
is rewarded. When character is developed on the individual and family
level, lasting and positive change will occur.
Who We Are and What We Do
The International Association of Character Cities (IACC) formed
in 1998 with a twofold strategy: equipping families to build character
and helping communities reinforce character among their citizens.
IACC provides resources, training, contacts, and counsel to leaders
who are committed to character development: in themselves, their
families, and their communities. View the list of communities who
have committed to developing character.
IACC is a division of the Character Training Institute, Inc. (CTI),
a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation based in Oklahoma City, OK,
USA. CTI was founded largely through the efforts of Tom Hill of
Kimray, Inc
Your vision may include increased jobs, a higher
standard of living, or greater economic development. These goals
can become unreachable because of root problems such as broken families,
community apathy, and controlling addictions. Just as a weed must
be completely uprooted to ensure its banishment from the lawn, your
community's challenges must be tackled at their source. The key
to solving these issues is individual character development.
Character is the inward motivation to do what is
right, whatever the cost. It enables a person to see and make the
best decisions in life. For example, diligent people will see a
need and create new jobs as they go about meeting the need. Resourcefulness
allows people to raise their standard of living by investing money,
time, and energy where it will bring the most benefit. Economic
development results as people approach their lives with creativity
and initiative.
If you want to invest the time and commitment required
for lasting results, the IACC staff is at your disposal.
