Weekly Bible Verse Reading Review:

During this week  at home you would have read these Bible promises. Whether we're on top of the world, or in the midst of trial, like King David in Psalm 119 we can call on God to fulfill His promises, "Sustain me, my God, according to your promise, and I will live; do not let my hopes be dashed."

Whatever you're facing, hold onto these Scriptures on Hope in the Bible and the promise that God is with you in your individual situation.

 1. 1 Chronicles 16:34

(What has God promised would endure forever?)

2. James 1:17

(What has God promised to give us?)

3. 2 Samuel 7:28

(What has God promised to His servants?)

4. Psalm 84:11

(What has God promised to those whose walk is blameless?)

5. Isaiah 41:10

(What has God promised in this verse?)

6. Proverbs 3:5-6

(What has God promised to do for us?)

7. 2 Corinthians 9:8

(How has God promised to bless you?)

b. Sword Play

c. Teach the Lesson

Who can Know God?

Purpose of the Lesson
Understand the necessity of the new birth
• Have an opportunity to receive Jesus Christ as Saviour

This lesson gives an opportunity to receive Christ Jesus as Lord of our lives.

Prayer: Almighty God, we want to learn more about You. Help us to understand the things we read. We are awed by the fact that You are High above all Your creation, but You still want to have fellowship with us! We pray in Jesus’ name, amen.

There is only one more session in this study and we have only begun to learn who God is and what He is like. God is much greater than we can ever imagine. All our lives, we will be learning more and more about the wonders of God.

For a quick review, answer the next questions which cover what we have learned so far.

How do we know there is a living God?. . . . . (discuss)

The Bible says God is, He always has been, and always will be. All of creation tells us that God exists. Our own spirits testify to the fact that a personal, loving, faithful, sovereign God made us and we are accountable to Him.

Where is God?. . . . . (discuss)

God is everywhere. He fills all of Earth, heaven, and space. He is even beyond space because He made it all.

When asked why there is only one God, a child gave this answer, “Because God fills every place. There is no room for another one.”

How do we know that God wants us to know Him? . . . . . (discuss)

God told us about Himself in the book He has written, the Bible. Since the beginning of time, God has been revealing what He is like to people. God has demonstrated His love and mercy to us in many different ways throughout our lives, even though we often fail to recognize that things happen as they do because God is working for us.

We have learned about the nature and attributes of God, but we are aware of the fact that to really know all about God is beyond our understanding.

BASIC TRUTHS

• God is a divine Spirit.
• He came to earth and took on a human form as the God-man, Jesus Christ.
• As a man, He lived a perfect life.
• He died on a cross, was buried and rose from the dead.
• After His resurrection, He returned to Heaven in His glorified human body.
• He is present with us now as the invisible Holy Spirit.

God knows us, He knows us better than anyone else, He has always known us.

The question is – do you know God?

DOWNLOAD Back of the Cross

1. What does the Bible say about how a person may know God?

A. He says, “Be still, and know that I am God" Psalm 46: 10a

B. "The LORD is near to all who call on him"… Psalm 145: 18a

C. "Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live". Isaiah 55: 3

D. "Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart"Hebrews 10: 22a

2. Jesus told the disciples how to know God

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” John 14: 6 – 7

Word Searches, decoders, crosswords and games have been included to make it more interested and fun for the youth .

Jesus was telling them that He is the way to know what God is like. He is also the way to come to God. He is the way to heaven. He is the only way that leads to eternal life. We can follow Him and know that He will lead us in the right way.

When Jesus said He is the way, the truth, and the life, He was saying He is the truth about God. If we know Jesus, we know what God is like because Jesus is the exact expression of the invisible God.

When we are without God, we are in the dark. Sin holds us in bondage. We are sinners by birth and by choice. We are trying to reach the holy God who made us. We fall short, we cannot make it, and we are spiritually dead.

Read Ephesians 2:1

And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins

We need help from a source outside of ourselves if we are to become clean so that we can relate to God, who is perfect.

Have you received God’s Free Gift of Salvation?

"For the wages of sin is death; but the GIFT of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord " Romans 6:23

God knows we are sinners and we cannot free ourselves.

So what stops us from getting this gift?

SIN

Sin is anything we think, say, do or don’t do that displeases God.

MEMORY VERSE:

'All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God' Romans 3:23

DOWNLOAD Bible Verse Visual Aid

Many people make the mistake of trying to please God by trying to be good. They try to do enough good things to outweigh the bad.

That is the wrong direction. People can never earn their way to heaven or be good enough to enter on their own. Lets recall our Memory Verse Romans 3:23 'All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God'

Now turn to Acts 4:12 . . . . ."Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

We must know that we are unable to work our way to heaven. The only answer is the way God has provided. We must put our complete trust in Jesus, His death, and His resurrection.

Do you see the problem?

God solved the problem by sending His Son Jesus

The word believe means more than to know the facts that Jesus is God’s Son, who died on the cross for your sins. Believe means to put all of your trust in Jesus and to repent of your sins.

Repent means to change the direction you are going. It means to turn around! To follow Jesus means you cannot go your own way you must go God’s way.

Have You Received God’s Gift of Salvation?

If you do not have Jesus Christ in your life, talk to God in prayer, confess your sins, and ask Him to forgive you and to give you eternal life.

God will forgive you because forgiveness and eternal life are gifts He wants to give you. You don’t earn or deserve these gifts, but you do have to believe and receive them.

_____________________________________________________

3. Read the following verses. What do we have to do to receive God’s gift? . . . . .

John 6:29 . . . . .

29  Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent." (Believe in Christ.)

John 5: 24....

24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” ( Believe what God says and receive the gift of eternal life! When you believe, you receive.)

4. Jesus told a man that he must be born again. To see what Jesus said about being born into God’s family.

Read John 3: 1 – 8

1There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2  This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him."

3  Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

4  Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?"

5  Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6  That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7  Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' 8  The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit."

(You may want the children to repeat after you this prayer )

If you want to give your life to Jesus, please pray this prayer after me.

"Heavenly Father - thank you for giving me the gift of life - here on your beautiful earth, - thank you that you want to give me - the free gift of eternal life. - I know that I can never be good enough - to earn this free gift, - I can never deserve it - or work hard enough for it.

I know now - that sin stops me from getting this gift. - And I know we are all sinners,- separated from You.- I understand now - that there must be a different way - and there is Your way!- I know that you are loving - and you do not want to punish me - but I also know that You are just - and You must punish sin. - I am in big trouble - I have a big problem - but I thank You for solved that problem - by sending Your son Jesus.- Thank you that Jesus lived a perfect and powerful life. - Thank you Jesus - that you were prepared to die on the cross - to pay the penalty, - the price, for my sins. - Thank you - that You rose from the dead - on the third day - and you are in Heaven now - offering me the free gift of eternal life.

I want to turn from my naughty, bad ways. -All the things that I do, - or don't do, - think and say - that displease you, - I repent, - I am truly sorry, - I turn from my old ways now. - Please cleanse me - and forgiven me - of my sins - I want to follow you.- Please come into my life - and take control, - I receive this gift by Faith - with a thankful heart, - thank you for welcoming me - into the Family of God. - Amen"

When we receive Jesus, God gives us eternal life. Our new life is in His Son, Jesus. We are now God’s children and God is our Father. We have been born into His holy family!

Our Creator has become “our perfect parent—
faithful in love and care,
generous and thoughtful,
interested in all we do,
respecting our individuality,
skillful in training us,
wise in guidance,
always available. . .”

God has chosen us to be His children and has given us all the rights and privileges of those who are rightly related to Him. God has chosen you!

Read Ephesians 1:3-6 . . . . .

3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4  just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5  having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6  to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

Do we value our position as a child of God?

Have we thanked Him for choosing us?

God is now our Heavenly Father. We show Him that we love Him by obeying Him and striving to please Him in all that we do.

We not only have a new relationship with God as our Father, but we have a new relationship with the rest of the world. Every believer is either our brother or sister and everyone else is an individual God wants in His family. We are to share our faith with them as obedient children of God.

We have established the fact that God is the Creator. He is eternal—He always was and always will be. He has all power. He came to earth as a man and is now in heaven.

God provided a Savior through Jesus Christ. Christ’s death on the cross wiped out the debt held against us and set us free. God did this by making an exchange.

Read 2 Corinthians 5:21 to identify the exchange,

“[God] made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

What was the exchange? . . . . . (Our sinful life for His righteous life.)

Jesus had no sin of His own. But He took our sin and, in exchange, He gave us His righteousness. Now, from God’s point of view, we have the righteousness, goodness, and purity of Jesus. We know we do not possess those qualities in ourselves. But God sees us “in Christ” because of this great exchange!

We are in Christ and when God looks at us, He sees Christ’s righteousness. God gives us the life of Christ when we believe.

Read Philippians 3:8-9 . . . . .

8  Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9  and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;

What a wonderful gift God has given us

Take Home Weekly Bible Readings: LESSON #8

Print 'Weekly Bible Verse Readings', one for each youth to take home.

Each day this week, read the Bible passage for the day and answer the question.

1. John 14:21-23

21  He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and  manifest Myself to him."

22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, "Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?"

23 Jesus answered and said to him,  "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him,   and We will come to him and make Our home with him."

(To whom will God reveal Himself?) . . . . ...........

______________________________________________________

2. Romans 5:6-9

6 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

(Why did Jesus die for us when we were sinners?) . . . . ....

______________________________________________________

3. 1 Timothy 2:1-6

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself a ransom for all,

(Who does Jesus want to be saved? . . . . .)........

______________________________________________________

4. James 4:7-10

7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

(What are the conditions needed for God to come near to us? . . . . .)

______________________________________________________

5. 2 Peter 3:9

9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

(Why is God delaying the day of His judgment? . . . . ).....

______________________________________________________

6. Hebrews 11:6

6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

(When you come to God, what must you have faith to believe? . . . . .)

______________________________________________________

7. Matthew 11:27-30

27  All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father.   Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.  28  Come to   Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  29  Take My yoke upon you   and learn from Me, for I am  gentle and   lowly in heart,   and you will find rest for your souls.  30  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

(Who does the Lord invite to come to Him? . . . . . ) .......
