c. Teach the Lesson - The Creation Story:
BIBLE STORY/DRAMA: Genesis 1: 1 - 31
Who is God? This question has intrigued people for centuries. They have searched deep into history, hoping to unveil “the ultimate controller of the universe.” They try to discover who God is and understand how He works.
|
The very first words in the Bible tell us that "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Then the Bible goes on to tell about God's creation

The purpose of these lessons is—
• to learn what the Bible says about God;
• to realize how exciting life can be when we know God and live in fellowship with Him;
• to apply what we learn and develop a deeper, more meaningful relationship with God.
As you read the following, emphasize the word “is.”
To stimulate our thinking, consider the following:
The Bible simply states that God is. There is no attempt to prove that He is. There is no great argument or explanation. Anyone who picks up the Bible and reads its first words can know without a doubt that God exists. God, the true and Almighty God, is. He is the One who has caused everything else to come into existence.
God always has been,
He always will be!
His eternal existence is powerfully
expressed by two words:
God is.
God has always existed and He always will. People exist and you exist. Your physical body has a beginning and an end. But God does not have a beginning or an ending. To say, “God exists” is correct, but to say “God is,” has a more definite meaning. There never was a time when God did not exist. He always was and always will be. Do you see the deeper meaning in the statement “God is” than “God exists?” It is always present tense or now with God.
GOD IS CREATOR
Before time began, there was nothing but God in all His fullness. Nothing else – no universe, no earth, no sun, moon or stars – nothing. God is the Creator of all that exists.

2. Read the following Bible verse and state in your own words the one main truth this verse teaches.
The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.
Colossians 1:15 – 16
What a wonderful God we have!
He created everything that is—out of nothing.
GOD IS ETERNAL
Eternity is a concept that is hard to understand because we live in time.
We are prisoners of time. The time we were born was recorded. There will be a time when we will die. All we do in our lifetime is measured in time – years, days, hours and minutes. We are constantly aware of time so it is hard for us to understand timelessness. ______________________________________________________
3. Read the following Bible verses and state in your own words the one main truth they teach us.
Psalm 102:12, 25-27 . . . . . (God is eternal)
12 But You, O Lord , shall endure forever,
And the remembrance of Your name to all generations.
25 Of old You laid the foundation of the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
26 They will perish, but You will endure;
Yes, they will all grow old like a garment;
Like a cloak You will change them,
And they will be changed.
27 But You are the same,
And Your years will have no end.
God is timeless. He never had a beginning and He will never have an end. He lives in eternity, which is another way of saying He lives in timelessness.
We live in three tenses—the past, present, and future. We have lived in the past, we are living in the present, and we will live in the future. God has always existed and will continue to exist forever. ______________________________________________________
ONLY ONE GOD
4. Read the following verses and answer this question. Do you believe there is one Living God?. . . . .
“This is what the LORD says—
Israel’s King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty:
I am the first and I am the last;
apart from me there is no God.”
Isaiah 44: 6
"I am the Lord , and there is no other;
There is no God besides Me". Isaiah 45:5
Do you believe there is only one living God?
6. APPLICATION / ENCOUNTERING GOD:
NUGGETS:
We were created in the image of the Triune God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) we are triune creatures we are Spirit, Soul and body.
We were created perfect, because God is perfect
We were created to be in relationship with God because we are Spirit and need relationship with a Spirit God.
"Worthy are you, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they existed and were created."
Revelation 4:11
PRAYER: Dear Lord and Creator, You are the Master Designer the Creator.
Father, we thank you for all of creation. We thank you for life
and for life eternal through Jesus Christ, your Son. Help us to
take good care of all that you have given us. We know that you have
a plan and a purpose for us. We ask you to take the bits and pieces
of our lives and make them into something beautiful. Amen.

NEXT WEEK: Lesson #2 we will discover that the Bible is in perfect harmony from beginning to end—even though it deals with many difficult subjects. Each part needs the other parts to complete the story. The Bible is the complete revelation of how God has provided salvation for all who will believe and receive His wonderful gift. The Bible can be our guide through life. Help us to remember that we can always depend on the Bible to point us in the right direction.
