Kids EE Haiti 2009

Jenny Tryhane traveled to Haiti in December 2008 to distribute the contents of the 40' container filled with over 2000 'Make Jesus Smile' shoe boxes, wrapped and packed by the children of Barbados for the children of Haiti as the UCT Christmas initiative.

Part of the plan was to present the Good News of Salvation through the Kids EE program at every children's party. In total 17 children's outreach parties took place, from Gonieve in the north to Jacmel in the south, as the gifts were distributed.

Jenny worked in partnership with Pastor Pierre Banes Laurore the Haiti Kids EE National Coordinator to train 12 English speaking interpreters in preparation for Don and Carla Thompson's visit to Haiti early in 2009.

He was sent, like an angel to assist her in the work and traveled with her to St Marc and Gonieve to help distribute Make Jesus Smile shoboxes and present Kids EE.

He later went back with her to Jacmel where another one day training was hosted enabling us to train over 40 teachers representing some 10 different ministries in the Jacmel area including Restoration Ministries, Wesleyan and Nazarene churches.

The week long workshop and Saturday seminar in Bon Repos was hosted by Heart for Haiti. As you can see they offer spacious conferencing facilities including a male and female dormitory style accommodation with separate washroom facilities including flushing toilets and running cold water.

Haitian meals can be provided from the Heart for Haiti kitchen and the cost is US $20 per week per person. This offers excellent opportunities for Kids EE to host clinics in the Bon Repos region of Port au Prince.

Jenny then traveled with Pastor Pierre Banes Laurore down to Les Canes to the 15 Minutes en Sentinelle Mission House which became home for a week.

What a wonderful opportunity to minister to around 40 young student teachers who grasped the Kids EE program with enthusiasm.

They actively took part in the programme and the opportunities to extend the ministry into numerous schools through these young students is enormous.
