The recent earthquake that hit
Haiti devastated the economy of this fragile country. As offices,
shops, hotels and other buildings of commerce came crashing
down.
Banks, money transfer offices
and communication networks were all impacted and it took almost
a month for the banks to open.
When they did the cues stretched for blocks
down the street!
The damage to Port au Prince is
still being analyzed and debates continue as to the necessity
to relocate the capital to an entirely different location.
