c. Teach the Lesson
Luke wrote in the book of Acts about what happened after the resurrection.
Youth Bible Reading: Acts 1:1-11
1 The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, 2 until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, 3 to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.
4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, "you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now." 6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, "Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?" 7 And He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be [witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven."

1. Where is Jesus today?
Read Hebrews 12:2 . . . . .
Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
(Seated at the right side of God’s throne)
2. What is Jesus doing for us?
Read Hebrews 7:24-25 . . . . .
24 But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. 25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
(He is always pleading or interceding for us.)
The Bible tells us that Jesus is where God is. That is true. He is alive. His glorified body ascended into heaven where God is, and He is now at God’s side.
3. What did the death of Jesus accomplish for us?
Read Romans 5:8-9. . . . .
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
(He died in our place and made us right with God, the Father.)
Read the next verse Romans 5:10. . . . .
10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
Jesus’ death has made us God’s friends. We were His enemies, but now that is changed. Our acceptance of His death and resurrection can save us from the results of our sin.
The last part of this verse reveals a wonderful truth! After we have invited Jesus into our lives as our Savior and Lord, we are not the same. His resurrection life is then in us and the Holy Spirit lives His life through our personalities. That is why it is necessary for us to surrender to the Lord Jesus. He comes in to live His life through us. We just need to yield our lives to Him and obey what He tells us to do.
That is the secret of the Christian life. We cannot live it by ourselves. No one can live his new Christlike life by himself. Only Jesus-in-you can live the Christian life.
The choice is clear. Do we really believe God sent Jesus so that we can be forgiven and receive eternal life?
John 3:36 says, “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever disobeys the Son will not have life, but will remain under God’s punishment.”
Our wisdom, religion, or good works do not give us entrance into heaven. We may know about the Bible and even try to clean up our lives, but we can’t enter heaven without God’s indwelling power. We gain entrance to heaven by making a decision to believe and accept that Jesus is who He said He was.
We do not have to clean up our lives before we come to Jesus. We may come just as we are. Read the promise Jesus gives to any who come to Him.
Turn to John 6:37 . . . . .
37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.
He will not refuse us.
There is another promise He gives to all who come to Him.
Read Matthew 11:28 . . . . . Jesus said
28 "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
4. Jesus died on the cross and rose again so that we could be forgiven and have a personal relationship with Him. We must ask Jesus to forgive us and invite Him to enter our lives. This is something we must do for ourselves. No one else can do it for us. If you cannot remember a time when you invited Jesus to come into your life, you can do it now.
To place your faith in Jesus and receive His forgiveness and gift of eternal life—
a. Recognize that God created you to be in fellowship with Him. He loves you and wants you to love Him with all of your being.
b. Face the fact that you are a sinner. You cannot save yourself.
c. Believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay the death penalty for your sin, that He rose from the dead, and that He is alive today. Believe this in your heart, not just your head.
d. Talk to God in prayer:
1) Ask Jesus to come into your life.
2) Confess and repent of your sins, which means to turn away from sin and turn to God.
3) Ask Him to forgive your sin.
4) Surrender the control of your life to Jesus. Let Him be your Lord.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for coming to earth to take the punishment for our sins. Thank You for being willing to come into our lives. Thank You for the promise that You will never leave us alone! Help us surrender our lives to Your control. Finish what you have started in each of our lives. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen
e. Tell someone what you have done and share your decision with your group
g. If you have just received Jesus Christ as your Savior, write the date. It is a day for you to remember! If you have received Him at an earlier time, write the date that you received Him.
6. APPLICATION / ENCOUNTERING GOD:
CLOSING PRAYER:
Dear God, thank You for sending Jesus, Your only Son, to die for our sin. We know that He has risen from the dead and has returned to heaven. Bless us today as we worship Him with great joy! Amen.

Weekly Bible Reading - LESSON #11
Print 'Weekly Bible Verse Readings', one for each youth to take home.
What do the following Bible verses reveal about those who have asked Jesus Christ to enter their lives?
1. Acts 4:12 . . . . .
12 "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
..................
2. Galatians 2:20 . . . . .
. 20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
...............
3. Romans 8:10-11 . . . . .
10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
4. 2 Corinthians 5 :17-19 . . . . .
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
...............
5. Romans 6 :4-11 . . . . .
4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this,
that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.
7 For he who has died has been freed from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
.............
6. Ephesians 4:22-24 . . . . .
22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
.............
7. John 1:10-13
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
