Armageddon Campaign: The Battle of the Great Day of God
Almighty
I. INTRODUCTION
A. The political and military developments among the Gentiles are
key signs of the times. They lead up to Armageddon Campaign. It
is necessary to first understand the Armageddon Campaign to grasp
the prophetic significance of what is happening in this hour in
the Gentile nations.
B. Human history does not end with a nuclear war. The drama of
human history does not come to a close with the superpowers of the
nations blowing each other up in a massive explosion, as has been
the popular Hollywood theme. Scripture makes it clear that natural
history ends by a battle, but this battle is not between the East
and the West, it is not about Communism verses Capitalism, etc.
The two sides of this great battle will be evil human beings (led
by the Antichrist) against God. Our anticipation will build as circumstances
lead up to that Armageddon Campaign. The knowledge of its approach
will encourage us. As the circumstances leading up to the End-Time
battle intensify, believers will be crying out to God for His breakthrough
of power.
C. The high point of the Second Coming procession is Jesus’
re-entry into the city of Jerusalem as the Messianic Kingdom received
by the governmental leaders of Israel (Mt. 23:39).
39 I say to you (governmental leaders in Jerusalem),
you shall see Me no more till you say, 'Blessed is He who comes
in the name of the LORD!' " (Mt. 23:39)
D. Jesus’ Second Coming is in context to ending a 3½
year military conflict (Armageddon
campaign) at the Battle of Jerusalem to establish His Throne over
all nations. The final event of natural history is the appearance
of Jesus as that Warrior-King with the all saints and angels.
11 Behold, a white horse. He (Jesus)
who sat on him…judges and makes war…15
Out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike
the nations. He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron…16
He has…a name written: KING OF KINGS…. (Rev. 19:11-16)
E. The setting of the Second Coming: the Antichrist
will appear victorious over the Church (Rev.13) and Israel. Israel
will be surrounded by the Antichrist’s forces. Half of the
city will be taken into exile. Israel and the Church will have their
“back against the sea” in seeming defeated by the advancing
forces of the Antichrist (as the End-Time Pharaoh).
F. The Armageddon Campaign is often thought of
as an isolated battle that occurs just before Jesus returns. It
is a military campaign that lasts 3½ years and will involve
many different battles. It ends with the final battle referred to
as the Battle of Jerusalem which is fought in the Valley of Jehoshaphat
just outside of Jerusalem. The Antichrist will conduct numerous
battles around the world (Rev. 6:1-6; Dan. 11:40-45), in context
to the 3½-year Armageddon Campaign
G. Armageddon is the place God chose to gather
all the nations for the war so that He might judge them. The Scripture
speaks often of this (Ps. 45:3-5; 110:5-6; 149:6-9; Isa. 2:4; 13:4-5;
27:12-13; 29:5-8; Isa.30:25-26; 42:13-15; 63:1-6; Jer. 25:30-33;
Jer 49; Dan. 2:44-45; Joel 3:1-2, 9-17; Mic.7:16-17; Zeph. 3:8;
Zech. 12:1-9; 14:1-3, 12-15; Rev. 14:17-20; 16:12-16; 19:17-21).
H. All the nations of the earth will be gathered to Israel to war
with God. “All nations” does not refer to every single
person of every nation. Zechariah 14:16 tells us that some of the
nations will be left. This speaks of all the governments of the
earth—the military leaders, and personnel representing all
the nations.
I. There are three reasons that all the nations will come
to make war against God in Israel.
- First, God draws them (Joel 3:2, 12; Zech. 12:3; 14:2; Zeph.
3:8).
- Second, Satan draws them (Rev. 16:13-14; 19:19). Satan will
gather the largest military force of all history to seek to overthrow
Jesus by demonic and human might.
- Third, men come because of sinful motives such as greed, anger
and envy ( Ps. 2:1-3). Men will come in greed, wanting to take
the spoil from Israel and to steal the wealth of individual Jewish
people whom they wish to kill.
11 I (God) will do according to your anger and…the
envy which you showed in your hatred against them; and I will make
Myself known among them when I judge you. (Ezek. 35:11)
J. The Antichrist will conduct a series of battles around the world.
War will intensify as Gentile nations gather together in northern
Israel for the 3½ year Armageddon Campaign (Rev. 16:16).
K. The most fierce and decisive battle of the Armageddon Campaign
is the last one called the Battle for Jerusalem. It is the battle
that is ended by Jesus’ Second Coming to Jerusalem. The Battle
for Jerusalem is what most people are thinking of when they say
the Battle of Armageddon.
L. The Second Coming is in context to the Battle of Jerusalem and
involves the nations gathering to fight Jesus, on earth (not in
the sky). The judgment of the Sixth Bowl is the assembling of nations
to come to Jerusalem to fight Jesus not the Jews. Jesus is on the
ground by then. They have urgency because of having seen Jesus’
sign in the sky.
M. The Battle for Jerusalem will not be over in fifteen minutes.
He will first appear in the sky. He will appear in the sky with
all of His angels and then He will strike the evil nations in a
progressive battle, causing the blood to flow far and wide.
N. Jesus will step out of heaven and He will stand in the sky as
a fully human King who is also fully God. No human king in history
has ever stood in the sky with his armies. When Jesus splits the
sky with His appearing and liberates the captives, it won’t
be instantaneous, but a process! It will take time. Though He will
use supernatural power, He will also operate to a high degree within
the boundaries of human process. Because He comes from Heaven, we
often assume He will nearly do away with the natural human dimensions
of life in His Second Coming. Yet that is not the case. God loves
the natural realm. He will release His glory to the nations involving
natural, human processes with a supernatural anointing. This concept
of literal events in a natural realm is important for us to understand!
O. There will be three types of people on earth when Jesus appears
in the sky. The redeemed will be raptured. The reprobate who took
the mark of the Beast will be judged then killed. The resistors
are the unsaved survivors of the Tribulation who refused to worship
the Antichrist.
P. The Second Coming Procession involves a 3 stage process which
includes many events. This Procession begins in the sky at the 7th
Trumpet with the Rapture and ends on the earth after the 7th Bowl
to end the Armageddon campaign with an astonishing victory over
the armies of the Antichrist at Jerusalem (Rev. 19:11-21; Zech.
14:1-9).
Stage #1: Jesus’ procession across the sky:
to rapture the Church (Mt. 24:30-31; Rev. 1:7).
Stage #2: Jesus’ procession on the land:
traveling from Egypt through Jordan
(Isa. 63:1; Hab. 3:3-7).
Stage #3: Jesus’ procession into Jerusalem:
to the Mount of Olives followed by His coronation.
II. UNDERSTANDING THE ARMAGEDDON CAMPAIGN (REV. 16:12-16)
14…Demons performing signs…go out to the
kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the
battle of that great day of God Almighty…16 they gathered
them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon. (Rev. 16:14-16)
A. John called it the battle of the “great day” of
God Almighty. The day will be very great because it is God’s
great day of power when He displays His sovereignty for all nations
to see. It is also called the “great and very terrible day
of the Lord" (Joel 2:11; Mal. 4:5). The Antichrist will be
defeated related to this battle. The 7th Bowl may break out while
armies are gathered around Jerusalem.
B. The term Armageddon appears only once in the Bible (Rev. 16:16).
The phrase the “Battle of Armageddon” is never used
in Scripture. Armageddon is a place that God chose to gather the
Gentile nations for the war. John informs us that Har-Magedon is
a Hebrew name that comes from two different words. The Hebrew "har"
can be translated as mountain, hill or mount. Magedon speaks of
the small town of Megiddo. Together in Hebrew, it is called, Armageddon
or “Har-Magedon” which can be translated, "hill-country
or the hill of Megiddo” or simply “Mount Megiddo."
Since there is no mountain next to Megiddo, it refers to the Mount
Megiddo. The transliteration of Harmagedon (Har-Magedon) is Armageddon.
C. Megiddo was an Old Testament city in northern Israel, sixty
miles north of Jerusalem. Megiddo is located within a famous valley.
Within this valley is a vast open plain. This area is called the
Valley of Jezreel (Jewish name; Hosea 1:5, 11) or Esdraelon (Greek
name). It is approximately 15 miles wide at its widest point and
twenty miles long. It is the largest battle ground in Israel.
Summary: the hill of Megiddo is in a small town
called Megiddo which is in the plains of
Esdraelon or the Valley of Jezreel.
D. A mountain is on both the north and south side of Megiddo and
the Valley of Jezreel. Mt. Tabor is on the northeast side of Valley
of Jezreel and Mt. Gilboa is on the southeast side. Mount Carmel
is close to Megiddo, to the northwest. It is where Elijah defeated
the prophets of Baal. Megiddo is on the edge of the plain of Jezreel
about 20 miles from Haifa today.
E. John is speaking of a literal geographical location. Thus, he
writes, “to the place called” to emphasize that he is
speaking of a literal geographic location. In the Sixth Bowl, the
Euphrates river and the hill of Megiddo are both to be understood
literally. Therefore, John gives the Hebrew interpretation.
F. Many strategic battles in bible history were fought in this
valley.
- Deborah defeated Sisera (Jug. 4-5)
- Gideon defeated the Midianites (Jug. 6)
- Saul was killed by the Philistines (1 Sam. 31)
- Joshua defeated the Canaanite king of Megiddo when entering
the promise Land. Josiah was killed by the Egyptians in the Valley
of Megiddo ( 2 Kings 23). The mourning at Megiddo related to Josiah's
death parallels Israel’s future mourning for Jesus (Zech.
12:10-14).
G. The Valley of Jezreel (in the plain of Esdraelon) was prophetically
renamed by God as the Valley of Hamon Gog which literally means
the “hordes of Gog” (Ezek. 39:11).
H. This area is too small to host millions of soldiers long term.
It is large enough to act as a place to gather and dispatch armies
throughout the Land. In other words, it will be a military staging
area.
John spoke of an area 200 miles long (1,600 furlongs) which is the
distance from the Megiddo in the north of Israel to Bozrah in the
south.
20 The winepress was trampled (by
Jesus) outside the city (Jerusalem),
and blood came out of the winepress…for 1,600 furlongs (1,600
stadia in NIV or 200 miles). (Rev. 14:20)
I. The Antichrist will gather the armies of the world for a military
build up in the northern part of the Israel near the hill of Megiddo.
These troops will eventually be stationed throughout Israel occupying
the entire nation with troops deployed from the area of Armageddon.
The conflict extends from Megiddo (Valley of Jezreel or plains of
Esdraelon) in the north, down through Jerusalem, out into the Valley
of Jehoshaphat and southward to Edom.
J. Armageddon is about judgment unto salvation. God saves His people
and destroys their enemies.
The Armageddon Campaign is God’s answer to the Abrahamic
Covenant to bless those who bless Israel and to curse those who
curse Israel, and giving all the Land promised to Abraham.
The fire that was manifest to Israel at Sinai will destroy the
Antichrist's armies.
III. THE MAJOR BATTLEFIELDS OF THE ARMAGEDDON CAMPAIGN
A. Mountains – Israel’s enemies will
fight and die on Israel’s mountains (Ezek. 39:2, 4, 17).
B. Northern Israel – the area of Armageddon
is the main military staging area.
C. Southern Israel – in the Valley of Jehoshaphat
(near Jerusalem) where the final battle occurs (Joel 3:2, 12; Zech.
14:1-5, 12; Zeph. 3:8b).
This valley is about 5-10 miles south of Jerusalem and it is near
Edom. Today, it is an area next to the Wadi el Arrub near Tekoa
(a ruin called Bereikut still exits). In Scripture, there is no
valley actually called the Valley of Jehoshaphat, rather, it is
the Valley of Berachah (2 Chr. 20:26) where King Jehoshaphat gathered
his army to worship God for giving Israel a supernatural victory
over Moab, Ammon and Mount Seir or Edom (2 Chr. 20:24).
IV. THE ARMAGEDDON CAMPAIGN IN SCRIPTURE
A. In Psalm 45, the sons of Korah wrote of this final conflict
of the evil end-time campaign, crying out to the Messiah to, “Gird
Your sword upon Your thigh, O Mighty One, with Your glory and majesty,
ride prosperously because of truth, humility, and righteousness.
This Psalm portrays the glory and the terror of Jesus returning
to Jerusalem to fight to end the Armageddon Campaign.
3 Gird Your sword upon Your thigh, O Mighty One, with
Your glory and Your majesty. 4 In Your majesty ride prosperously
because of truth, humility, and righteousness…5 Your arrows
are sharp in the heart of the King's enemies; the peoples (nations)
fall under You. 6 Your Throne, O God, is forever…7 You love
righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God…has anointed
You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions. (Ps. 45:3-7)
B. Jesus will trample or crush the unrighteous like grapes in a
large winepress. The wine of human blood will fill the land and
stain His garments. Jesus will stomp these nations in righteous
rage.
1 Who is this who comes from Edom, with dyed garments
from Bozrah, this One who is glorious in His apparel
(Jesus), traveling in the greatness of His strength?--
"I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save." 2 Why
is Your apparel red, and Your garments like one who treads in the
winepress? 3 "I have trodden the winepress…for I have
trodden them in My anger, and trampled them in My fury; their blood
is sprinkled upon My garments (in context to the Battle of Jerusalem),
and I have stained all My robes. 4 For the day of vengeance is in
My heart, and the year of My redeemed has come…6 I have trodden
down the peoples in My anger, made them drunk in My fury, and brought
down their strength… (Is. 63:1-6)
1 Let the earth hear, and all that is in it…2
For the indignation of the LORD is against all nations, and His
fury against all their armies; He has utterly destroyed them, He
has given them over to the slaughter. 3 Also their slain shall be
thrown out; Their stench shall rise from their corpses, and the
mountains shall be melted with their blood. 4 All the host of heaven
shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled up like a scroll;
all their host shall fall down…5 "For My sword shall
be bathed in heaven; indeed it shall come down on Edom…6 The
sword of the LORD is filled with blood…for the LORD has a
sacrifice in Bozrah, and agreat slaughter in the land of Edom. 7…their
land shall be soaked with blood…8 For it is the day of the
LORD's vengeance, the year of recompense for the cause of Zion.
(Isa. 34:1-8)
18 It shall be that I will gather all nations and tongues;
and they shall come and see My glory…23 All flesh shall come
to worship before Me…24 and they shall go forth and look upon
the corpses of the men who have transgressed against Me…They
shall be an abhorrence to all flesh." (Isa. 66:18-24)
1The LORD makes the earth empty and makes it waste,
distorts its surface and scatters abroad its inhabitants…3
The land shall be entirely emptied and utterly plundered…4
the haughty people of the earth languish. 5 The earth is defiled
under its inhabitants, because they have transgressed the laws..
6 Therefore the curse has devoured the earth, and those who dwell
in it are desolate. Therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned,
and few men are left…21 It shall come to pass in that day
that the LORD will punish on high the host of exalted ones
(demonic principalities), and on the earth the
kings of the earth. 22 They will be gathered together, as prisoners
are gathered in the pit, and will be shut up in the prison; after
many days they will be punished. 23 Then the moon will be disgraced
and the sun ashamed; for the LORD of hosts will reign on Mount Zion…before
His elders, gloriously. (Isa. 24:1-6, 21-23)
C. John's version of Armageddon is seen in Rev. 19:11-21 Here he
develops the military theme of the Armageddon Campaign as seen in
Isa. 63 and Ps. 45. Jesus will wear a robe that will be dipped in
blood as the armies of heaven follow Him on white horses. Jesus
will strike the nations with a sharp sword as He treads the winepress
of God’s wrath.
11 Behold, a white horse. He who sat on him was called
Faithful and True, and in
righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a flame
of fire, and on His head were many crowns…13 He was clothed
with a robe dipped in blood…14 The armies in heaven, clothed
in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. 15
Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should
strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of
iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath
of Almighty God. 16 And He has on His robe…a name written:
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. 17 Then I saw an angel…saying
to all the birds…, "Come and gather together for the
supper of the great God, 18 that you may eat the flesh of kings,
the flesh of captains,
the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit
on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small
and great." 19 I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and
their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat
on the horse and against His army. 20 Then the beast was captured,
and with him the false prophet…these two were cast alive into
the lake of fire…21 the rest were killed with the sword which
proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. All the birds
were filled with their flesh. (Rev. 19:11-21)
D. Why is Jesus fighting on a horse? The Armageddon Campaign is
after the 7 bowls which destroys the armament factories with 100
pound hail stones and earthquakes. Horses will be the only way that
people will get from 1 place to the other. After 911 for several
blocks, cars could not drive through because of the rubble. Armageddon
is happening after Rev. 16. The horses are not figurative. The landscape
will require actual horses. God’s judgments will destroy infrastructures
that cause the oil supply to get to the people. There will not be
fuel for vehicles.
E. John saw demonic spirits performing miracles to deceive the
nations to come to Armageddon.
13 I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out
of the mouth of the dragon (Satan), out of the mouth of the beast
(Antichrist), and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For
they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the
kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the
battle of that great day of God Almighty. 16 And they gathered them
together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon. (Rev. 16:13-16)
F. John described a prophetic picture of the final battle of natural
history when all the land of Israel becomes a blood soaked battlefield.
Jesus tramples His enemies like grapes in a large winepress (which
is the entire land of Israel). The stains of their blood will be
seen on His garments. This is the passage about God’s winepress
in which the phrase "the grapes of wrath" came from.
19 The angel…gathered the vine of the earth,
and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. 20 And
the winepress was trampled (by Jesus) outside the city (Jerusalem),
and blood came out of the winepress, up to the horses' bridles,
for 1,600 furlongs (1,600 stadia in NIV or 200 miles from Megiddo
or Armageddon in the north to Bozrah in the south) (Rev. 14:19-20)
G. Joel prophesied of God stomping the enemies of Israel as one
stomps grapes in a winepress. The winepress is full and the vats
are overflowing because the wickedness of the nations is great.
As millions of soldiers are gathered together against Israel, God
will present His weapons. He will even employ the sun and the moon
(Joel 3:15). Jesus will shelter Israel in trouble. The valley of
Decision is the place in which the fate of multitudes is finalized.
It is the Valley of Jehoshaphat (near Jerusalem) where Jehoshaphat
praised God after the defeating the enemy (2 Chr. 20:24).
2 I will also gather all nations, and bring them down
to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; and I will enter into judgment with
them there...11 Assemble and come, all you nations, And gather together
all around...9 Proclaim this among the nations: "Prepare for
war...let all the men of war draw near, let them come up...”
11 Assemble and come, all you nations…12 Let the nations…come
up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; for there I will sit to judge all
the surrounding nations. 13 Put in the sickle, for the harvest is
ripe. Come, go down; for the winepress is full, the vats overflow--
for their wickedness is great." 14 Multitudes, multitudes
in the valley of decision! for the day of the LORD is near in the
valley of decision. 15 The sun and moon will grow dark, and the
stars will diminish their brightness. 16 The LORD also will roar
from Zion, and utter His voice from Jerusalem; the heavens and earth
will shake; but the LORD will be a shelter for His people…17
"So you shall know that I am the LORD your God, dwelling in
Zion My holy mountain. Then Jerusalem shall be holy, and no aliens
(foreign armies) shall ever pass through her again." (Joel
3:2, 9-17)
H. Jesus will stand in Jerusalem and utter His voice with a deafening
roar (Joel 3:16). He will be angry against wickedness. Isaiah prophesied
of Jesus shouting aloud like a man of war.
13The LORD shall go forth like a mighty man; He shall
stir up His zeal like a man of war. He shall cry out, yes, shout
aloud; He shall prevail against His enemies. 14 "I have held
My peace a long time, I have been still and restrained Myself. Now
I will cry like a woman in labor, I will pant and gasp at once.
15 I will lay waste the mountains and hills, and dry up all their
vegetation; I will make the rivers coastlands, and I will dry up
the pools.” (Isa. 42:13-15)
I. Zechariah prophesied of the Battle of Jerusalem. In that day
His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives. A multitude of Jewish
people will be trapped up against a mountain and surrounded on all
sides, without a way of escape. When Jesus sets His foot on the
Mount of Olives, an earthquake will split that mountain in two!
His people will escape through the newly created mountain valley.
As God parted the Red Sea with Moses, so then, the mountain will
be parted to make a way of escape. Jesus will become a shelter for
His people, protecting the remnant of Israel from danger (Joel 3:16).
3 Then the LORD will go forth and fight against those
nations, as He fights in the day of battle. In that day His feet
will stand on the Mount of Olives…and the Mount of Olives
shall be split in two, from east to west, making a very large valley…5
Then you shall flee through My mountain valley…Yes, you shall
flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah…Thus
the LORD my God will come, and all the saints with You. (Zech. 14:3-5)
12 This shall be the plague with which the LORD will
strike all the people who fought against Jerusalem: their flesh
shall dissolve while they stand on their feet, their eyes shall
dissolve in their sockets, and their tongues shall dissolve in their
mouths. 13 It shall come to pass in that day that a great panic
from the LORD will be among them. Everyone will seize the hand of
his neighbor, and raise his hand against his neighbor's hand; 14
Judah also will fight at Jerusalem. The wealth of all the surrounding
nations shall be gathered together: Gold, silver, and apparel in
great abundance. 15 Such also shall be the plague on the horse and
the mule, on the camel and the donkey, and on all the cattle that
will be in those camps. So shall this plague be. (Zech. 14:12-15)
3 In that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy
stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be
cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against
it. 4 In that day," says the LORD, "I will strike every
horse with confusion, and its rider with madness…8 In that
day the LORD will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem…9 It
shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations
that come against Jerusalem. (Zech. 12:3, 8- 9)
J. Daniel prophesied about the Armageddon campaign.
44 And in the days of these kings the God of heaven
will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom
shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and
consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.
(Dan. 2:44)
11 "I watched then because of the sound of the
pompous words which the horn was speaking; I watched till the beast
was slain, and its body destroyed and given to the burning flame.
12 As for the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken
away… (Dan. 7:11-12)
K. David spoke of the Armageddon campaign and the Battle of Jerusalem.
Jesus goes through the land killing Gentile kings who sought to
destroy Jerusalem.
1 The LORD (Father) said to my Lord (Jesus), "Sit
at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool."
2 The LORD shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion. Rule
in the midst of Your enemies...4 The LORD has sworn…, "You
(Jesus) are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek."
5 The Lord is at Your (Jesus) right hand; He (Jesus) shall execute
kings in the day of His wrath (Battle of Jerusalem). 6 He (Jesus)
shall judge among the nations, He shall fill the places with dead
bodies, He shall execute the heads of many countries. (Ps. 110:1-6)
1 Why do the nations rage, and the people (nations)
plot a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and
the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against His
Anointed…4 He (Father) who sits in the heavens shall laugh;
the LORD shall hold them in derision. 5 Then He shall speak to them
in His wrath, and distress them in His deep displeasure: 6 "Yet
I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion."…8 Ask of
Me (Father), and I will give You (Jesus) the nations for Your inheritance
(Millennial Kingdom), and the ends of the earth for Your possession.
9 You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to
pieces like a potter's vessel (Battle of Jerusalem)'" 10 Therefore,
be wise, O kings…11 serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice
with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish
in the way… (Ps. 2:1-12)
6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and
a two-edged sword in their hand, 7 to execute vengeance on the nations,
and punishments on the peoples (nations); 8 to bind their kings
with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; 9 to execute
on them the written judgment-- this honor have all His saints.
(Ps. 149:6-9)
L. Jesus comes from Jordan or Teman to Jerusalem.
11 The sun and moon stood still in their habitation;
At the light of Your arrows they went, At the shining of Your glittering
spear. 12 You marched through the land in indignation; You trampled
the nations in anger. 13 You went forth for the salvation of Your
people, For salvation with Your Anointed.
You struck the head from the house of the wicked, By laying bare
from foundation to neck. (Hab. 3:11-13)
M. Zephaniah prophesied of the gathering of nations to Israel for
battle.
8 Therefore wait for Me…until the day I rise
up for plunder; My determination is to gather the nations to My
assembly of kingdoms, to pour on them My indignation, all my fierce
anger; all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of My jealousy.
(Zeph. 3:8)
N. Ezekiel describes the same focusing on "Gog" (Antichrist):
1 Behold, I am against you, O Gog (Antichrist)…2
I will turn you around and lead you on, bringing you up from the
far north, and bring you against the mountains of Israel. 3 Then
I will knock the bow out of your left hand…4 You shall fall
upon the mountains of Israel, you and all your troops…I will
give you to birds of prey…to be devoured. 5 You shall fall
on the open field…8 this is the day of which I have spoken.
11…I will give Gog a burial place in Israel…they will
bury Gog and all his multitude. (Ezek. 39:1-11)
O. Balaam prophesied before Balak, a Moabite King about Jesus’
End-Time victory.
14 Come, I will advise you what this people (Israel)
will do to your people in the latter days."
15 He took up his oracle and said: "The utterance of Balaam…17
"A Star (Jesus) shall come out of Jacob (Israel);
a Scepter shall rise out of Israel, and batter the brow of Moab
(modern day Jordan), and destroy
all the sons of tumult. 18 "Edom shall be a possession; Seir
also, his enemies, shall be a possession, while Israel does valiantly.
19 Out of Jacob One (Jesus) shall
have dominion, and destroy the remains of the city." 20 Then
he looked on Amalek, and…said: "Amalek…shall be
last until he perishes." (Num. 24:14-20)
V. THE RESULT OF THE ARMAGEDDON CAMPAIGN
A. These events of the Armageddon campaign will make a massive
social impact upon the earth when He kills untold millions along
with their wicked leadership, including the evil kings of the nations.
He will personally slay them and their blood will fill the valley.
5 The Lord...shall execute kings in the day of His
wrath. 6 He shall judge among the nations, He shall fill the places
with dead bodies, He shall execute the heads of many countries.
(Ps. 110:5-6)
4 He shall judge between the nations, and rebuke many
people; They shall beat their swords into plowshares...nation shall
not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.
(Isa. 2:4)
B. The memory of this event will impact the social, emotional,
legal, and economic decisions in the earth for the next one thousand
years (Rev. 20). The memory will live on and the power of it will
affect generation after generation. They will tell the story to
their offspring and to their descendants, of this zealous King who
killed all of His enemies with His own hand! The vivid memory of
this display of Divine zeal will cause the nations of the earth
to say of the King
reigning in Jerusalem, “O, you do not want disobey Him! I
was there when He took the rod of iron and smashed the nations!”
This one event will re-align the emotional “DNA” of
the earth for a thousand years! The story will be told to the generations
because God desires voluntary lovers all over the earth who tremble
at His majesty!
