 | SHADOWS OF THE CHRIST AND THE NEW COVENANT - PART 2
Remember we learnt:"Type" is some "person," or "event,"
or "ceremony" that is recorded to "foreshadow"
some future "person," or "event," or "ceremony."
 For illustration
 • TYPICAL PERSONS, like Melchizedek, Joshua etc
 • TYPICAL EVENTS, like the "Passover" etc
 • TYPICAL CEREMONIES, like "Ceremonial Cleansing,"
"Feasts of Trumpets," "Year of Jubilee," etc
In studying the ‘Types’ the two comparative words ‘AS’
and ‘SO’ are often seen. As it was in the days of Noah… Matt 24:37aSo it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. – Matt
              24:37b
When the "Type" and the "Antitype" (or fulfillment)
have both appeared, as the "Brazen Serpent" and the "Uplifted
Christ," then the Type has been fulfilled. If the Antitype has not yet appeared then the fulfillment is future.
The "Plagues of Egypt" are a type of the Plagues of the
Great Tribulation. The Lord has used much of the historic events of the Old Testament
to provide a preview of future events. The Passover of Exodus foreshadowing…The crucifixion of Christ
on the cross and His shed blood which provides the remission of
              sins.
Remember Yeshua is woven through the entire fabric of the Bible.
The feast days of Israel is God’s prophetic calendar of Redemption.
The first four feast are fulfilled at the first coming of Jesus
the lamb of God. While the last three feast are fulfilled at the
Second Coming. Just as the Spring Feasts includes three distinct feast, so the
festive season of the seventh month (in late September or October)
includes three fall feast: These are:• The Feast of Trumpets
 • The Day of Atonement
 • The Feast of Tabernacles
The Lamb returns as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, to rule and
reign over the earth. Between these two periods, the Fourth Feast
Day (Weeks/Pentecost) and the Feast of Trumpets is the four months
              of the harvest.(The Church Age)
The Feast of Trumpets This feast is known in Judaism as Rosh Hashanah - Lev 23:24
The shofar was used for many purposes:
 1. To assemble Israel before Yahweh - Ex 19:13b
             2. To call the community together - Num 10:2a 3. To summon Moses to the top of the mountain to receive the Commandments
              - Exodus19:19 4. To give a signal during time of war - Judges 3:27a 5. To commemorate the year of Jubilee - Lev. 25:8-10a 6. To anoint a new king during coronation service - 1 Kings
1:34 7. To re-gather the outcasts of Israel - Isa. 27:13 8.To warn the people of danger - Joel 2:1 9. During battle - Judges 7:18 10. To pull down walls and strongholds - Joshua 6:4-5 11. To herald end time judgements - Revelations 8: 2 12. To declare the arrival of the Messiah - Zech. 9:14
              – 15a Unlike other Jewish feasts, the Feast of Trumpets takes place on
a New Moon, when just a sliver of the Moon appears in the night
sky. Since this has to be confirmed by eye witness sightings the
weather has to be very clear to observe the rising of the New Moon,
and it’s not always that way. For this reason the Feast of
Trumpets has come to be known as the feast where no one knows the
day or the hour. Watchfulness was a critical ingredient of this feast. The rabbis
later added a second day to this feast to make sure they didn't
miss it. This need for watchfulness and preparedness in connection
with the Feast of Trumpets is echoed and re-echoed throughout the
New Testament in connection with the Lord's coming. - Mark 13:32

 I. OUR BLESSED HOPE: JESUS’ RETURN TO THE EARTH A. Jesus is coming back to the earth to establish His kingdom.
His coming is the ultimate event in prophecy and is referred to
              as our blessed hope.(Titus 2:13; Mt. 24:30-31; Rev. 11:15)
 B. Jesus’ coming is in context to a military conflict around
the city of Jerusalem. He will come to win the Battle of Jerusalem,
which ends the Armageddon Campaign (it lasts for 3½ years
the latter end of the Tribulation). Just as we saw Jesus ride into Jerusalem on a donkey as the 'Suffering
Servant'. So too when Messiah returns this next time He will come as the ’Conquering
              King’.
 (Rev. 19:11-15)
  C. Jesus will march through Bozrah in Edom (Jordan) killing His
enemies on His way to Jerusalem (Isa. 63:1-4) D. Jesus will come to defeat the Antichrist at Jerusalem and then
to establish His throne there. (Mt. 25:31-32) E. The second coming describes what Jesus does when He permanently
“comes” back to earth. His second coming is by definition
a coming to earth to accomplish a long-term mission. The rapture describes what happens to the Church when Jesus first
appears in the sky. Some think of Jesus’ second coming as
only consisting of the rapture of the Church. They think only of Jesus appearing in the sky to catch up His people
that they may all return to heaven. Jesus is coming back to live
permanently on the earth and to rule all the nations from Jerusalem. II. JESUS RAPTURES THE SAINTS AT THE SOUND OF THE LAST
TRUMPET A. The rapture describes what happens to all the saints at the
time of Jesus’ second coming. He will catch up or rapture
the saints in the air. Rapture comes from the Latin raptus, to “catch
away.” (1 Thes. 4:16-17) B. Jesus will rapture the Church when He brings all the saints
with Him from heaven. (Thes. 3:13)
 C. Jesus will come with all the angels. (Mt. 13:41; Mark 13:26 – 27; Mt. 25:31; Rev. 10:7; 1 Cor.
              15:51-52; Rev. 11:15)
 D. “In a moment” qualifies how fast each individual
will be changed, not how much time it takes for the whole Church
to see Him and be changed, thus completing the worldwide rapture.
(1 Cor. 15:51-52) III. THE CENTERPIECE OF GOD’S ETERNAL PURPOSE TO
JOIN HEAVEN AND EARTH (Eph. 1:9-10) A. Jesus will establish God’s kingdom on earth as it is in
heaven by joining the heavenly and earthly realms together at His
second coming. This is an interpretive key to understanding the
end times. Heaven: Supernatural realm where God’s power and presence
are openly manifest. Earth: Physical realm where human process, emotions, and physical
sensation are experienced. B. In the Millennium, the natural realm will not be suspended but
enhanced by the supernatural realm of the Spirit. Jesus will rule the millennial earth with both natural human processes
and God’s power. We see an example of this when Jesus appeared
in His resurrected body to teach, relate to, and eat with His disciples
and even to walk through walls (Jn. 20-21; Acts 1) 1V. THE SECOND COMING PROCESSION: 3 STAGES (30 DAYS)A. Jesus’ coming is a procession because He will come with
all the saints (1 Thes. 3:13) and all the angels
(Mt. 25:31) as He travels on clouds across the
whole earth for all to see (Mt. 24:30). He will come with the Father’s glory - Mt. 16:27

He will come with great power - Mk. 13:26
As He travels across the sky with the brightness and energy of
lightning - Mt. 24:27 The Feast of Trumpets is Israel's dark day. It occurred at the
new moon when the primary night light of the heavens is darkened
Israel's prophets repeatedly warned of a coming day of judgment
for the nation. It was called "the day of the Lord." It
was to occur at the end of the Jewish age. The day of the Lord was
a time when the Lord poured out His wrath upon Israel. The sun and moon will be darkened as the stars fall and the very
heavens are shaken - Mt. 24:29
Jesus’ royal procession in the sky on clouds will be seen
by all (Rev. 1:7a) God's last trump and the resurrection of the righteous are recorded
in the New Testament: (1 Corinthians 15:51-52) Jesus’ royal procession in the sky on clouds will be seen
by all - (Rev. 1:7a) B. The second coming procession involves a 3-stage process including
many events occurring over a 30-day period This 30-day period can be seen by comparing the 1,260-day (3½
year) time frame - (Rev. 11:2-3a; Rev.12:6; Dan. 7:25; Dan.
9:27) 1,260-day compared with the 1,290 days in Daniel - (Dan.
12:11) 1. Stage #1 FEAST OF TRUMPETS: Jesus’ procession
across the sky to rapture the church (Mt. 24:30-31; Rev.
1:7). 2. Stage #2 DAY OF ATONEMENT: The Day of Atonement
speaks of the return of Christ, and the consummation of redemption.
The destruction of Jerusalem, the second coming of Christ, and the
fullness of redemption were synonymous events. At Christ’s
second coming, He will instruct a powerful angel to bind Satan and
cast him into a place of restraint for 1,000 years, exiling him
from mankind just as the live goat was exiled from the Israelite
camp on the Day of Atonement - (Revelation 20:1-2) So Christ plays a dual role in the symbolism of the Day of Atonement.
He is sacrificed as the first goat for the sins of the people, the
atonement of which is yet to be applied to all Israel upon the nation’s
repentance at His return. And He will also be involved, as King of Kings, in banishing Satan
at that time to establish the Kingdom of God on earth. (Luke
21:24b) Jesus’ procession on the land traveling through Jordan to
              Jerusalem - (Isa. 34:6b; Hab. 3:12-13; Ps. 45:3-5; Ps. 110:5-6)
 3. Stage #3 FEAST OF TABERNACLES: The Feast of Tabernacles was to celebrate and commemorate:(1) The end of the wanderings in the desert of the children of Israel.
 (2) A celebration of their inheritance of and entry into Canaan¬
              the Promised Land.
 (3) The light celebration was reminiscent of the descent of the
Shekinah glory in Solomon's day and looked forward to the return
of the glory of the Lord.
 (4) Many believe that Jesus Christ, the Light of the world, was
born into this world during the Feast of Tabernacles.
So how ironic that Jesus’ procession into Jerusalem and then
to the Mount of Olives, to save and redeem Israel should take place
on the day He was born! At Christ’s second coming, He will
again “tabernacle” with those who are saved. He will
dwell with His people for a thousand years, and this 1,000-year
rule of Jesus Christ over the earth is the ultimate fulfillment
of this feast - (Revelation 20:6) C. Summary: Jesus’ procession begins in the sky at the 7th trumpet as
He raptures the Church on the Feast of Trumpets and ends on the
earth after the 7th bowl, with victory over the Antichrist.
Inflicting judgement over the Antichrist and the enemies on the
Day of Atonement. Then Jesus makes His triumphal entry into Jerusalem for the Feast
              of Tabernacles. (Read Rev. 19:11-21)
 (Read Zech. 12:1-13:6)
 (Read Zech. 14:1-9)
  D. Jesus’ ministry was prophetically pictured by the Law
of Moses (first 5 books of the OT), the Prophets and the Psalms,
which teach us about His first and second comings -(Lk. 24:27, 44)
10 days after the Feast of Trumpets is the Day of Atonement, when
Christ will judge His Church and His enemies. The Day of Atonement is the period when Christ reconciles us to
God by removing the sins in our personality. It is the judgment
of his spiritual enemies in mankind, beginning with his spiritual
enemies in his Church. 15 days after the Feast of Trumpets is the Feast of Tabernacles,
              when we will celebrate the wedding feast - (Revelation 21:3;
Acts 15:16-17) Promises on the second coming of the Lord Jesus are very important
to Christians as they represent the core of our future expectation.
We should recognise the fact that the prophetic promises contained
in these three feasts will be fulfilled in the Messiah just as literally
as the promises of the first four feasts were fulfilled by His first
coming and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. These remarkable patterns that The Lord has put in the Bible help
inform us when we are trying to interpret prophetic Scripture. Any
future event should have a prior type in Scripture and we should
study the Word diligently to find out to confirm what we may think
to be true And all of this will help us to keep our eyes open to world events
as the Word of God becomes more and more of a reality. Proverbs 25:22 It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter
              is the glory of kings.
