Session 3 The Future Glory of Jerusalem (Zech. 2:1-13)
I. INTRODUCTION
A. These visions promise the full restoration of Israel, with the Messiah living in Jerusalem
16 ‘Therefore thus says the Lord :
“I am returning to Jerusalem with mercy; My house shall be built in it,” says the Lord of hosts,
“And a surveyor's line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem.” (Zech. 1:16)
5 For I,' says the Lord , ‘will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.'
10 “Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” says the Lord . (Zech. 2:5, 10)
The rebuilding of the temple:
11 “Many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and they shall become My people. And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you. (Zech. 2:11)
B. The first vision:
Vision of the Horses
7 On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat, in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet: 8 I saw by night, and behold, a man riding on a red horse, and it stood among the myrtle trees in the hollow; and behind him were horses: red, sorrel, and white. 9 Then I said, “My lord, what are these?” So the angel who talked with me said to me, “I will show you what they are. ”
10 And the man who stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, “These are the ones whom the Lord has sent to walk to and fro throughout the earth.”
11 So they answered the Angel of the Lord , who stood among the myrtle trees, and said, “We have walked to and fro throughout the earth, and behold, all the earth is resting quietly.”
The Lord Will Comfort Zion
12 Then the Angel of the Lord answered and said, “O Lord of hosts, how long will You not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which You were angry these seventy years?”
13 And the Lord answered the angel who talked to me, with good and comforting words. 14 So the angel who spoke with me said to me, “Proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts:
“I am zealous for Jerusalem
And for Zion with great zeal.
15 I am exceedingly angry with the nations at ease;
For I was a little angry,
And they helped— but with evil intent. ”
16 ‘Therefore thus says the Lord :
“I am returning to Jerusalem with mercy;
My house shall be built in it,” says the Lord of hosts,
“And a surveyor's line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem.”
17 “Again proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts:
“My cities shall again spread out through prosperity;
The Lord will again comfort Zion,
And will again choose Jerusalem.” (Zech. 1:7-17)
The second vision: Vision of the Horns
18 Then I raised my eyes and looked, and there were four horns. 19 And I said to the angel who talked with me, “What are these?”
So he answered me, “These are the horns that have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.”
20 Then the Lord showed me four craftsmen. 21 And I said, “What are these coming to do?”
So he said, “These are the horns that scattered Judah, so that no one could lift up his head; but the craftsmen are coming to terrify them, to cast out the horns of the nations that lifted up their horn against the land of Judah to scatter it.” (Zech. 1:18-21)
The third vision: Vision of the Measuring Line
2 Then I raised my eyes and looked, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand. 2 So I said, “Where are you going?”
And he said to me, “To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its width and what is its length.”
3 And there was the angel who talked with me, going out; and another angel was coming out to meet him, 4 who said to him, “Run, speak to this young man, saying: ‘Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls, because of the multitude of men and livestock in it. 5 For I,' says the Lord , ‘will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.'
Future Joy of Zion and Many Nations
6 “Up, up! Flee from the land of the north,” says the Lord ; “for I have spread you abroad like the four winds of heaven,” says the Lord . 7 “Up, Zion! Escape, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.”
8 For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye. 9 For surely I will shake My hand against them, and they shall become spoil for their servants. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me.
10 “Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” says the Lord . 11 “Many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and they shall become My people. And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you. 12 And the Lord will take possession of Judah as His inheritance in the Holy Land, and will again choose Jerusalem. 13 Be silent, all flesh, before the Lord , for He is aroused from His holy habitation!” (Zech. 2:1- 13)
C. He received these visions in 519 BC
7 On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat, in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet: (Zech. 1:7)
They started the work in 520 BC
The People's Obedience
12 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the Lord their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the Lord their God had sent him; and the people feared the presence of the Lord . 13 Then Haggai, the Lord 's messenger, spoke the Lord 's message to the people, saying, “I am with you, says the Lord .” 14 So the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of the Lord of hosts, their God, 15 on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month, in the second year of King Darius. (Hag. 1:12-15)
II. THIRD VISION: THE MAN WHO MEASURED JERUSALEM (2:1-5)
B. There were four persons interacting in this vision
1. The man
Then I raised my eyes and looked, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand. (Zech. 2:1)
2. The prophet Zechariah—called a young man
“Run, speak to this young man, saying: ‘Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls, because of the multitude of men and livestock in it (Zech. 2:4)
3. The interpreting angel—called “the angel who talked with me”
3 And there was the angel who talked with me, going out; and another angel was coming out to meet him, (Zech. 2:3)
C. The restoration of Jerusalem in Zechariah's day was a prophetic picture of a far greater restoration under Jesus' leadership in the Millennium.
12He will set up a banner for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth. (Isa. 11:12)
18 Lift up your eyes, look around and see;
All these gather together and come to you.
As I live,” says the Lord ,
“You shall surely clothe yourselves with them all as an ornament,
And bind them on you as a bride does.
19 “For your waste and desolate places,
And the land of your destruction,
Will even now be too small for the inhabitants;
And those who swallowed you up will be far away.
20 The children you will have,
After you have lost the others,
Will say again in your ears,
‘The place is too small for me;
Give me a place where I may dwell.' (Isa. 49:18-20)
“Lift up your eyes all around, and see:
They all gather together, they come to you;
Your sons shall come from afar,
And your daughters shall be nursed at your side. (Isa. 60:4)
E. The theme of this vision is Jerusalem's future increase, prosperity, and divine protection.
1 Then I raised my eyes and looked, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand. 2 So I said, “Where are you going?” And he said to me, “To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its width and what is its length.” 3 There was the angel who talked with me, going out; and another angel was coming out to meet him, 4 who said to him, “Run, speak to this young man, saying: ‘Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls, because of the multitude of men and livestock in it. 5 For I,' says the LORD, ‘will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.'” (Zech. 2:1-5)
1 I raised my eyes:
18 Then I raised my eyes and looked, and there were four horns. (Zech. 1:18)
Then I raised my eyes and looked, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand. (Zech. 2:1)
Then I turned and raised my eyes, and saw there a flying scroll.
5 Then the angel who talked with me came out and said to me, “Lift your eyes now, and see what this is that goes forth.”
9 Then I raised my eyes and looked, and there were two women, coming with the wind in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between earth and heaven. (Zech. 5:1, 5, 9)
Then I turned and raised my eyes and looked, and behold, four chariots were coming from between two mountains, and the mountains were mountains of bronze. (Zech. 6:1)
2 A measuring line: Ezekiel saw a man with a measuring tool in his hand to measure Jerusalem
3 He took me there, and behold, there was a man whose appearance was like the appearance of bronze. He had a line of flax and a measuring rod in his hand, and he stood in the gateway. (Ezek. 40:3)
4 The angel who talked with me:
9 Then I said, “My lord, what are these?” So the angel who talked with me said to me, “I will show you what they are. ”
13 And the Lord answered the angel who talked to me, with good and comforting words. 14 So the angel who spoke with me said to me, “Proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts:
“I am zealous for Jerusalem
And for Zion with great zeal.
19 And I said to the angel who talked with me, “What are these?”
So he answered me, “These are the horns that have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.” (Zech. 1:9, 13, 14, 19)
3 And there was the angel who talked with me, going out; and another angel was coming out to meet him, (Zech. 2:3)
1 Now the angel who talked with me came back and wakened me, as a man who is wakened out of his sleep.
4 So I answered and spoke to the angel who talked with me, saying, “What are these, my lord?” (Zech. 4:1, 4)
5 Then the angel who talked with me came out and said to me, “Lift your eyes now, and see what this is that goes forth.”
10 So I said to the angel who talked with me, “Where are they carrying the basket?” (Zech. 5:5, 10)
4 Then I answered and said to the angel who talked with me, “What are these, my lord?” (Zech. 6:4)
Another angel met this interpreting angel, urging him to run back to the young Zechariah to tell him of Jerusalem's future.
4 “Run, speak to this young man, saying: ‘Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls, because of the multitude of men and livestock in it. (Zech. 2:4b)
5 Another angel:
3 And there was the angel who talked with me, going out; and another angel was coming out to meet him, (Zech. 2:3)
6 Multitude of men: Jewish people living in the nations will move to Israel in vast numbers in the Millennium
12 He will set up a banner for the nations,
And will assemble the outcasts of Israel,
And gather together the dispersed of Judah
From the four corners of the earth. (Isa. 11:12)
18Lift up your eyes, look around and see; all these gather together and come to you… 19For your waste and desolate places…will even now be too small for the inhabitants… 20The children you will have…will say in your ears, “The place is too small for me.” (Isa. 49:18-20)
4 Lift up your eyes all around, and see: they all gather together, they come to you; your sons shall come from afar, and your daughters shall be nursed at your side. (Isa. 60:4)
7 Multitude of livestock:
23Then He [the Lord] will give the rain for your seed…in that day your cattle will feed in large pastures. 24Likewise the oxen and the young donkeys that work the ground will eat cured fodder…25There will be on every high mountain and on every high hill rivers and streams of waters…26The light of the sun will be sevenfold…in the day that the LORD binds up the bruise of His people and heals the stroke of their wound. (Isa. 30:23-26)
8 Wall of fire: Jesus will live in Jerusalem
16 ‘Therefore thus says the Lord :
“I am returning to Jerusalem with mercy;
My house shall be built in it,” says the Lord of hosts,
“And a surveyor's line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem.” (Zech. 1:16)
5 For I,' says the Lord , ‘will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.' ”
10 “Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” says the Lord . (Zech. 2:5, 10)
The wall of fire reminds us of the pillar of fire by which God protected and directed His people in the wilderness
21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night. 22 He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night from before the people. (Ex. 13:21-22)
20 So it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel. Thus it was a cloud and darkness to the one, and it gave light by night to the other, so that the one did not come near the other all that night. (Ex. 14:20)
5 then the Lord will create above every dwelling place of Mount Zion, and above her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day and the shining of a flaming fire by night. For over all the glory there will be a covering. (Isa. 4:5)
F. The Lord called the Jewish exiles still living in Babylon to escape her coming judgment.
6 “Up, up! Flee from the land of the north [Babylon],” says the LORD; “for I have spread you abroad like the four winds of heaven,” says the LORD. 7 Up, Zion! Escape, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.” (Zech. 2:6-7)
1 This is the second prophetic oracle in the eight visions.
(Zech. 1:14-17 See above )
(Zech. 2:6-13 See above )
6 So he answered and said to me:
“This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel:
‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,'
Says the Lord of hosts.
7 ‘Who are you, O great mountain?
Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain!
And he shall bring forth the capstone
With shouts of “Grace, grace to it!” ' ”
8 Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
9 “The hands of Zerubbabel
Have laid the foundation of this temple;
His hands shall also finish it.
Then you will know
That the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you.
10 For who has despised the day of small things?
For these seven rejoice to see
The plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel.
They are the eyes of the Lord ,
Which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth.” (Zech. 4:6-10)
The Command to Crown Joshua
9 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 10 “Receive the gift from the captives—from Heldai, Tobijah, and Jedaiah, who have come from Babylon—and go the same day and enter the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah. 11 Take the silver and gold, make an elaborate crown, and set it on the head of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest. 12 Then speak to him, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, saying:
“Behold, the Man whose name is the BRANCH!
From His place He shall branch out,
And He shall build the temple of the Lord ;
13 Yes, He shall build the temple of the Lord .
He shall bear the glory,
And shall sit and rule on His throne;
So He shall be a priest on His throne,
And the counsel of peace shall be between them both.”
14 “Now the elaborate crown shall be for a memorial in the temple of the Lord for Helem, Tobijah, Jedaiah, and Hen the son of Zephaniah. 15 Even those from afar shall come and build the temple of the Lord . Then you shall know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you. And this shall come to pass if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God.” (Zech. 6:9-15)
3 I spread you abroad: Some fled to Egypt
7 So they went to the land of Egypt, for they did not obey the voice of the Lord . And they went as far as Tahpanhes. (Jer. 43:7)
Moab, Ammon, and Edom
11 Likewise, when all the Jews who were in Moab, among the Ammonites, in Edom, and who were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant of Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, 12 then all the Jews returned out of all places where they had been driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah at Mizpah, and gathered wine and summer fruit in abundance. (Jer. 40:11-12)
Flee and escape: The Lord warned the Jewish exiles to flee from Babylon and escape the coming trouble.
6 “Up, up! Flee from the land of the north,” says the Lord ; “for I have spread you abroad like the four winds of heaven,” says the Lord 7 “Up, Zion! Escape, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.” (Zech. 2:6-7)
5 Isaiah and Jeremiah and others called God's people to flee Babylon
8 “Move from the midst of Babylon,
Go out of the land of the Chaldeans;
And be like the rams before the flocks.
28 The voice of those who flee and escape from the land of Babylon
Declares in Zion the vengeance of the Lord our God,
The vengeance of His temple. (Jer. 50:8, 28)
6 Flee from the midst of Babylon, and every one save his life! Do not be cut off in her iniquity, for this is the time of the LORD's vengeance…45My people, go out of the midst of her! And let everyone deliver himself from the fierce anger of the LORD. (Jer. 51:6, 45)
50 You who have escaped the sword,
Get away! Do not stand still!
Remember the Lord afar off,
And let Jerusalem come to your mind. (Jer. 51: 50)
20Go forth from Babylon! Flee from the Chaldeans! With a voice of singing, declare, proclaim this…to the end of the earth; say, “The LORD has redeemed His servant!” (Isa. 48:20)
11 Depart! Depart! Go out from there,
Touch no unclean thing;
Go out from the midst of her,
Be clean,
You who bear the vessels of the Lord .
12 For you shall not go out with haste,
Nor go by flight;
For the Lord will go before you,
And the God of Israel will be your rear guard. (Isa. 52:11-12)
4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. 5 For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. 6 Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her. 7 In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.' 8 Therefore her plagues will come in one day—death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her. (Rev. 18:4-8)
6 End times: In the end times, the Lord will again deliver His people from the land of the north
5 Fear not, for I am with you;
I will bring your descendants from the east,
And gather you from the west;
6 I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!'
And to the south, ‘Do not keep them back!'
Bring My sons from afar,
And My daughters from the ends of the earth—
7 Everyone who is called by My name,
Whom I have created for My glory;
I have formed him, yes, I have made him.” (Isa. 43:5- 6)
12 Surely these shall come from afar;
Look! Those from the north and the west,
And these from the land of Sinim.” (Isa. 49:12)
18In those days…they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given as an inheritance to your fathers. (Jer. 3:18)
‘The Lord lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north and from all the lands where He had driven them.' For I will bring them back into their land which I gave to their fathers. (Jer. 16:15)
‘As the Lord lives who brought up and led the descendants of the house of Israel from the north country and from all the countries where I had driven them.' And they shall dwell in their own land.” (Jer. 23:8)
8 Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the ends of the earth…a great throng shall return there. (Jer. 31:8)
G. The Lord will judge any nation that plunders Jerusalem
8 Thus says the LORD of hosts: “He sent Me [Jesus] after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye. 9 For surely I will shake My hand against them, and they shall become spoil for their servants. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me [Jesus] . (Zech. 2:8-9)
1. Apple of His eye:
10He kept him as the apple of His eye. (Deut. 32:10)
8 Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me under the shadow of Your wings. (Ps. 17:8)
2. Shake My hand:
15With His mighty wind He will shake His fist over the River and strike it. (Isa. 11:15)
16In that day Egypt…will be afraid because of the waving of the hand of the LORD. (Isa. 19:16)
3 Spoil:
6 The multitude of camels shall cover your land, the dromedaries [camels] of Midian and Ephah; all those from Sheba shall come; they shall bring gold and incense, and they shall proclaim the praises of the LORD…11Your gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day or night, that men may bring to you the wealth of the Gentiles, and their kings in procession. (Isa. 60:6, 11)
4 After glory:
The Son of Man Will Judge the Nations
31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.'
37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'
41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.'
44 “Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?' 45 Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.' 46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” (Mt. 25:31-46)
8 Thus says the LORD of hosts: “He sent Me [Jesus] after glory, to the nations which plunder you. (Zech. 2:8)
c. Another view associates “glory” with God's end-time judgment.
Israel Restored to the Land
21 “I will set My glory among the nations; all the nations shall see My judgment which I have executed, and My hand which I have laid on them. 22 So the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day forward. 23 The Gentiles shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity; because they were unfaithful to Me, therefore I hid My face from them. I gave them into the hand of their enemies, and they all fell by the sword. 24 According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions I have dealt with them, and hidden My face from them.” '
25 “Therefore thus says the Lord God : ‘Now I will bring back the captives of Jacob, and have mercy on the whole house of Israel; and I will be jealous for My holy name— 26 after they have borne their shame, and all their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, when they dwelt safely in their own land and no one made them afraid. 27 When I have brought them back from the peoples and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, and I am hallowed in them in the sight of many nations, 28 then they shall know that I am the Lord their God,
who sent them into captivity among the nations, but also brought them back to their land, and left none of them captive any longer. 29 And I will not hide My face from them anymore; for I shall have poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel,' says the Lord God .” (Ezekiel 39:21-29)
5. Sent Me:
8 Thus says the LORD of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you…9 For surely I will shake My hand against them…Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me…10I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” says the LORD. 11Many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day…I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you. (Zech. 2:8-11)
6.Then you will know:
9 For surely I will shake My hand against them, and they shall become spoil for their servants. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me.
11 “Many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and they shall become My people. And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you. (Zech. 2:9, 11)
Zechariah later describes Israel mourning when they recognize Jesus as the one the Lord sent to them
9 For behold, the stone
That I have laid before Joshua:
Upon the stone are seven eyes.
Behold, I will engrave its inscription,'
Says the Lord of hosts,
‘And I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. (Zech. 3:9)
10 “And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn. (Zech. 12:10)
“In that day a fountain shall be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for uncleanness. (Zech. 13:1)
9 And the Lord shall be King over all the earth. In that day it shall be— “The Lord is one,”
And His name one. (Zech. 14:9)
H. Zechariah gives the ultimate description of Israel's salvation.
10“Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” says the LORD. 11“Many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and they shall become My people. And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you. 12And the LORD will take possession of Judah as His inheritance in the Holy Land, and will again choose Jerusalem. 13Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD, for He is aroused from His holy habitation!” (Zech. 2:10-13)
1 Dwell in your midst: Jesus is coming to live in Jerusalem—
“They say, ‘If a man divorces his wife,
And she goes from him
And becomes another man's,
May he return to her again?'
Would not that land be greatly polluted?
But you have played the harlot with many lovers;
Yet return to Me,” says the Lord . (Jer. 3:1)
31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. (Mt. 25:31)
2 Many nations: The Lord will judge…
9 For surely I will shake My hand against them, and they shall become spoil for their servants. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me. (Zech. 2:9)
And bless many nations will turn to the Lord, and their kings will worship Jesus
11 “Many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and they shall become My people. And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you. (Zech. 2:11)
