A SHIFT programme

Three 40 foot containers were shipped to Haiti and cleared early in 2013. One of the objectives was to establish agricultural and vocational training programmes in three areas, Montrouis in the mid west, Les Cayes in the south west and Duces a suburb of Les Cayes.

Seen here is the sun set on the first evening after 4 months trying to clear the containers - to God be the glory!

This was a combination of three Barbadian NGO's working side by side to see this dream become a reality.

Recently UCT has been working on trying to establish 'A Sustainable Haitian Integrated Food Training (SHIFT) Project

This pilot Project,is being funded by this Barbadian donation and will be used as a template for our much larger PowerPlay Child Care Project in Les Cayes.

The SHIFT will be an example to teach the people within the community including the children in the orphanage about improved food security and improved nutrition.

Successful farms have more than one enterprise and UCT will be encouraging a mixed farming enterprise to improve cash flow and reduce financial and business risk. The entire operation will be a model of ecologically sustainable agriculture. We want our SHIFT Project to be ecologically friendly and sustainable. One of the first thrusts has been to establish a Moringa Project.
