Lesson 7 – GOOD AND BAD SECRETS

AS KIDS ARRIVE PRIOR TO THE LESSON (10 minutes) ACTIVITY
Get the children to start colouring the Bible Verse Visual Aid and the pictures for Game 1

Optional: Chinese Whispers

Supplies needed:
• Crayons, Scissor
• Colouring pictures of children sitting.
• Paper thumb tacks.
• Colouring picture of Jesus sitting.
• A variety of objects one smooth, rough, hard, soft, fluffy, slippery, etc.
• Paper bags.
• Jesus outfit, white wrap and blue sash, crown.
• Chair, Ball, Bell.
• Flower.
• Lemonade drink.
• Print out musical lyrics.
• Print Bible Verse Visual Aid.
• Gold cloth, cross, Jesus’ crown.
• Strips of cloth and crocus bag and hairpin.
• Print the chapter 7 of the ‘And Puppy’ book one for each child.

1. GAMES: (10 minutes)
Blind fold children and give them a picture of a child. Tell the child to turn around 3 times and try to pin the child at Jesus’ feet picture on the poster board. Children will enjoy trying to pin all the children’s pictures at Jesus’ feet. After the game is over and everyone has had a turn, then let children move their picture around Jesus’ feet, if they were not close to his feet.
The teacher can draw or cut out a picture of Jesus for the poster board.

Write: LET THE CHILDREN COME.

2. GAMES: (10 minutes)
TOUCH RELAY:
Divide the children into teams. The teacher or leader will tell the first person on each team to run to a paper bag, and with their eyes closed, find something smooth. The children will quickly find a SMOOTH item and run back to the team. Then the teacher will then tell the next team member to find something soft, or bumpy, or hard etc. Continue to play the relay as time allows.

3. ACTIVE PRAISE CHORUS (10 minutes)
Rap (Use lyrics)
Jesus Hokey Pokey (Use Video and lyrics)

4. INTIMATE WORSHIP (5 minutes)
Jesus loves the little children (Use Video and lyrics)

5. TEACHING
a. Review:
Optional:
View the Joseph Video’ if possible

b. Learn a Bible Verse (5minutes)
And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them. Mark 10: 16 (NIV)

Dramatise the story.

c. Teach the Lesson (10 minutes)
Introduction to GOOD TOUCH
Read:
People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them. Mark 10:13-16 (NIV)

Teaching: GOOD TOUCH
As you probably know, we have five senses. We use these five senses to give us information about the world around us. For example, if I were to hold up a ball and ask you what it was, you would identify it by using your sense of sight. If I were to ring a bell and ask you what it was, you would identify it was by using your sense of hearing. If I put a flower under your nose and ask you to tell me what it was, you would know what it was by its smell. If I gave you a sip of lemonade, you would know right away what it was because of its taste.

One day, Jesus was teaching his disciples and a large crowd of other people were following him to hear what he was teaching. He was teaching about marriage and divorce and how God wanted them to have happy homes.

As Jesus was teaching, people started to bring their children to him so that he could touch them. The disciples didn't like these children disturbing Jesus. They told the people to get the children away. When Jesus saw what they were doing, he was very upset. "Let the children come to me, and do not stop them," Jesus said. "The kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these little ones." Then Jesus took the children in his arms and blessed them.
Let us hope that we will always remember that Jesus loved the children and took them into his loving arms. We are thankful for each of you who are here today and thankful that someone loved you enough to bring you.

We are told in this story that Jesus took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them, a gentle, kind touch now we will learn about someone that did the opposite this is a bad touch.

Teaching: BAD TOUCH
a. Review:
Remember the story of Joseph?

Remember when Joseph arrived in Egypt, a lot of things happened to him -- some good -- and some not so good. (Use GOOD and BAD signes)
• Joseph worked in the house of Potiphar and was placed over all of his wealth. (Good)

• Potiphar's wife told some terrible lies about Joseph to her husband. (Bad)

• Because of his wife's lies, Potiphar had Joseph thrown into jail. (Bad)

b. Learn a Bible Verse (5minutes)
She caught him by his cloak and said, “Come to bed with me!” But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house. Genesis 39: 12
(Use Bible Verse Visual Aid)

c. Teach the Lesson (10 minutes)
Potiphar’s wife acted very badly, she was married and should not have had desires for Joseph, when she tried to entice him to go to bed with him and he refused she grabbed him. This is a bad touch.

Optional: View video ‘Safe touch, unsafe touch’

Both Joseph and Jesus were persecuted because of false witnesses. The wife of Potiphar bears false witness against Joseph before the members of her household and before her husband leading to his imprisonment. Witnesses falsely accused Jesus before the Sanhedrin and before Pilate leading to his death.

6. APPLICATION / ENCOUNTERING GOD
Won't you reach out to Jesus today? Set up an alter with the gold cloth and the cross and get the children come and kneel before Jesus. He wants to take you in His arms and bless you. (Go around and minister to the children, hugging them)

CLOSING PRAYER

By the end of this lesson the children should be able to:
• Relate to Joseph who was falsely accused Genesis 39:6-13
• Understand Bad touch by the story of Potiphar’s wife touches Joseph in appropriately.
• Understand Good touch by the story of Jesus taking the children in his arms and blessing them.
• Know what to do if anyone tries to abuse them sexually
• Know what to do if someone has already abused them sexually
• Experience that God loves them regardless of what may have happened
