Reverend Moreen P. Hughes is Associate
Minister and Minister to Women and Families at Concord Baptist Church
of Boston, where her husband the Rev. Dr. Conley Hughes, Jr. is Senior
Pastor. They are the proud parents of three children, David Conley,
Nicole Alicia and Michael Jonathan.
A 1976 graduate of Boston University earning a Bachelor
of Science Degree in Elementary Education, Rev. Moreen went on to
earn a Master of Arts Degree in Psychology and Counseling from University
of Massachusetts in 1980, and is a 2004 graduate of Gordon-Conwell
Theological Seminary in Wenham, Massachusetts earning a Master of
Arts Degree in Religion.
She has been accepted at the same institution
as a Doctoral Candidate, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry
Degree in Effective Ministries to Women. Having taught for a number
of years in the Boston Public Schools, Rev. Moreen currently teaches
in the Haverhill Public School System and serves the community through
her involvement on many community agencies and religious organizations.
She is the recipient of numerous awards and citations,
including Outstanding Young Woman of America. Rev. Moreen serves the
Concord Baptist Church family as Minister to Women and Families and
is responsible for the planning and implementation of ministries and
programs that promote their spiritual, economic, social and psychological
growth.
She has led the Women of Concord into many areas
of ministry including an annual prayer retreat conference which
continues to draw women from throughout the United States, Canada
and the Caribbean.
Although
being raised and educated in Boston, she was reared and nurtured in Barbados,
where she accepted Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior at an early
age. She praises God for the Christian men and women who were influential
in her early Christian education. These servants of God have had a profound
and lasting effect upon her Christian walk.
Rev. Moreen is a scriptural based preacher and serves as speaker, workshop
facilitator and teacher at women conferences and retreats throughout the
United States. She is a strong believer in prayer, and the power of prayer,
and praises God for being the center of her joy.
