The church turned out and thousands
of Barbadian's from different denominations converged on the
NEW Kensington Oval .
The young and old alike came to praise God.
It was a time to together invite God's blessings across Barbados,
just a few days ahead of our hosting of Cricket World Cup
Super 8 matches, and the Finals.

Honorable
guests at the thanksgiving celebration included Chief Executive
Officer of the World Cup Barbados, Stephen Alleyne; Minister
of State in the Prime Minster's Office, Rev Joseph Atherley
and Chairman of World Cup Barbados, Chris de Caries
|
The body of Christ grasped the
opportunity to invoke the blessing of Almighty God over this
new facility and joined together to glorify God and invited
His presence and evoked His Lordship over Kensington and our
nation Barbados. |
|

by leading Praise and Worship leaders included, Pastor Ferdinand
Nicholls, Sammi Jane, Sister Marshall and Mya Daniel to name
a few
As the crowd rocked to popular Gospel tunes
such as 'Walk Holy' and 'My Redeemer Lives'.

|
"We owe it
to ourselves to host this event"
These were the strong words from the Minister
of State in the Prime Minister's office, Rev. Joseph Atherley
who reminded us that the West Indies owes the hosting of Cricket
World Cup to its cricketing icons who have made cricket the
game it is today. |
|
|
He commented that it was the
West Indian cricketers who contributed to cricket and made
it what is is today.
"We have put this game in
the place of prominence"
Errol Griffith, seen below, thanked
the crowd for gathering at such short notice.
The inter-faith advisory team had been working
with the LOC over the last two years and had suggested three
objectives. |
The first was a blessing of
Kensington Oval from the outside, a blessing from inside which
resulted in this excellent event and the third involved creating
a cleric space inside the stadium where people can come and
pray and have a quiet moment or be counseled.
|
|
Sammi Jane rounded off the event
with a rousing rendition of her new cd " It's our time" |
