A
Call to Holiness
Dear Friends,
God is calling His Church to Holiness. He always did. We don't
always listen. The problem is that we don't take consecration to
God seriously. If we desire to go further in God, at some point
this is an area that will have to be dealt with.
The World that we live in models a promiscuous and immoral lifestyle.
It is commonplace these days for unmarried people to live together.
It is commonplace for homosexuals to live together. There is a move
worldwide to permit homosexuals to marry, and even to adopt children.
It is commonplace for people to have sex while dating, or just have
casual sex with anyone at a given moment.
Even as the morals in the World continue to go more and more downhill,
God's Standards have not changed.
The Bible is our Standard, or plumbline, as to how we should live.
God will judge our lives by His Standards, and not by our own. And
so, we have to become more aware of how we allow the World's Standards
to permeate our lives.
When I was reading the Book of Kings 1 and 2, I noticed how God
judged the Kings over Judah and Israel. The Word of God says that
the particular King either did good or evil in "the eyes of
the Lord". The Kings were not judged on how wealthy they were,
or how big their armies were, or how accomplished they were, but
by their obedience to living God's Way. So we too, will be judged
in the same way.
We cannot use the excuse to God that it was what "everyone
else was doing". Once we know the Bible, we will have no excuse.
The Church is made up of many people who are only nominal in their
belief, who do not desire to walk fully in God's Ways. They choose
to do what they like, and occasionally pray, give, and go to Church.
They selectively choose what parts of the Bible they will obey.
There are many committed Christians who regularly attend Church,
Bible Study, give and participate in Church activities, but do not
take all of God's Commands to heart. Over time, God deals with different
areas of our lives, and living holy or pure, is one of them.
Adultery and promiscuity are prevalent in the Church. God wants
us to change our behaviour, and to consecrate our lives to Him.
He longs to move in a fuller way in our lives, and in our Churches,
and in our Nation, but we, His own Church, are not taking Him SERIOUSLY.
We are still playing around with sin. We are still lusting over
other people's husbands and wives. The single people, regardless
of their age, are sexually active. Abortion is a form of birth control.
Homosexual activity, masturbation and pornography are practised.
God's Heart is for us to live holy and wholesome lives before Him.
His Heart aches for us as we get involved in all sorts of relationships
that end up bringing us emotional pain and heartbreak. Why can't
we put God FIRST, and do it His Way, and live a life fully blessed
by God?
This morning, God has spoken to me clearly on how seriously He
views sexual immorality. I have made the decision that I want to
go further in God, and I want to be wholesome before Him.
Will you make that commitment to God today? He longs for you to
come up to a higher level.
"The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the
Lord, and the Lord for the body". (1 Cor. 6:13b NIV)
"Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits
are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his
own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy
Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are
not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with
your body." (1 Cor. 6:18-20 NIV)
