Hurricane Maria made landfall Monday night on the Caribbean island of Dominica as a Category 5 storm, the National Hurricane Center said, as other islands in the region, including Puerto Rico, brace for the impact.

Maria made landfall on Dominica around 9:15 p.m. local time with estimated winds of 160 mph, radar data from Martinique and Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicated, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Dominica was "shut down" as the storm approached, said Anil Etienne, a spokesperson for Dominica’s Office of Disaster Management.

United Caribbean Trust has always focused on the Sawyer PointOne Water Filtration System in the Haiti earthquake in 2010 and again during Hurricane Matthew in 2016.

Once again UCT worked closely with The Living Room have been able to send down over 200 over Sawyer PointOne Water Filtration System to churches and schools in Dominica following hurricane Maria.

UrtheRootz Restore Dominica recently walked in 27 Family Food Hampers to the Maute River area giving us excellent feedback and photo documentation.

Within two weeks United Caribbean Trust in partnership with The Living Room, a Dove church in Barbados, made two trips to Dominica on the Admirald Bay 2 we were able to sent 32 pallets.

Two Relief Distribution Centres have been established in Portsmouth (close to the port) and Goodwill not far from the Roseau port.

We have also partnered with a local Pastor to create a safe Mission House where we can sleep 4 relief workers or Missionaries to assist with distribution and document for our new website

www.UnitedCaribbeanRelief.com

The relief supplies included tarps, family food hampers, baby survival boxes and continued to distribute the Community Sawyer PointOne water filtrations systems for schools, churches and communities, thanks to our sponsors Chefette and G4S along with a string of private individuals that have assisted us in this joint relief effort. They have been distributed through a network of Pastors in remote areas such as the Carib Territory.
